fished there for years and have yet to get into the crappie out there. can find the bass and sandies but would like some crappie meat

Mo Crappie, a regular here, fishes that lake a lot and has told me he's pulled many a crappie out of there. I believe he fishes a pay-to-fish set of docks.

thanks i know which dock you are talking about. on a boat hard to find. guess i need to bait some trees like they do.

Hey Red. I haven't fished from a boat at Leon, but I fish the slips at La Mancha pretty often. The locals say you can get crappie under the bridge most of the time. During summer, the stumps in the north west part of the lake are supposed to be pretty good. And during the spawn, maybe about now, shallow near the rocks close to the La Mancha slips. I'll be there tomorrow and Fri, kids are off for spring break.

Are they catching any good crappie there at La Mancha right now, or is it too crowded with spring breakers?

I was there Thu-Sat. Crowded and slow, mostly dinks. The few decent fish being caught were mostly on minnows.
