I came back from the lake and this is what I found? bang hammer mad

It's an aluminum boat so I'm limited on remount possibilities. Any one have an idea of what I could do? I was thinking about fiberglass wrapping it coating with bondo plastic gel, would it still work after that? Or is this thing pretty much toast?

Ignore the date, wife hasn't figured out how to work the camera.

Is there a better way to stop this from happening again? Thanks in advance.

I know of guys who have drilled holes and epoxied pins in them and got the repairs to last a long time. The only way to avoid what happened would be to have a way to take it out of the water on a swing away like your trolling motor when you stop the boat.

Cajundave,
Been there.
A very good product is made by Devcon , I have fixed a problem close to this. It's a 2 part epoxy.
Clean both surfaces as much as possible, use alcohol, let dry. Do not sand or modify the surface, but you may want to chamfer the edges to give the repair more strength. Mix the 2 part epoxy well on a metal or plastic sheet, and apply to each side, let it sit overnight and it's done.
You will need to support it so it won't move while setting up, and maybe tape it together.
When it has set up, it is machinable, take a small file to it to reshape.
All glass boat owners should keep a supply on hand, a few drops works well, the bottle (s) will last forever if properly stored.

REELIN has good advice. I'll add one more, Do as reelin says and use Plastic Mender. It's a 2 part epoxy that you find in the glue section of walmart in the paint isle. Remarkable stuff. cost about $8.00

Fuel tank repair kit will hold that together forever....found at any local hardware store. It is a putty and dries rock soldid forever. I would ruff all edges that you have whatever glue you put on it with a fairly agressive paper. The ridges even as small as they are provide a great surface to bond. Do not sand the broken areas.

Go in hull, it will work on an aluminum rig also. We have done plenty for friends who were told they would not work. You will loose a little signal, though in Texas you won't need all the signal designed to shoot to 600' deep.

Just hard to get epoxy to hold on aluminum. Found you can attach transducer to hold in place in bilge then add water to bilge and it will work.

Thanks guys, heading to the hardware store tomorrow to check things out. At least now I'm encouraged.

If you do decide to relocate it. I use jb weld to fill the holes in my aluminum boat. Stuff works great for that.

I don't want to relocate this one, I may when I upgrade. This is a cheap one and I just want to get it through the season until I can sratch the funds together to get a real one.

Thanks again guys.

Well, it's bonding right now with an Aqua two part epoxy. I went to two places and it was the best looking stuff I could fine. They didn't have any of the above things you all mentioned. We will see what happens. I'll post a pic if it works well.
