I recently ran Seafoam in my gastank and have never done so before. I ran 1 can to 13 or 14 gallons. I was looking to give the engine a good decarb. Today on the lake, the engine was pretty hard to start after I had been idling (we have a LONG no-wake zone) and had stopped to fish for a while. It would fire, run like it was being choked, and then die. I would finally get it running by giving it a good bit of gas and throw it into gear to make sure it didn't die before I got it up and going a little. It would really smoke when I gave it the gas and it fired...kind of like it does when it is flooded with gas and finally fires.

I guess my main worry is did the Seafoam cause the release of carbon and foul the plugs or clog the carbs or what? I pulled the plugs and did notice some black on them and they are practically new...but I don't know how to tell if they are fouled. Maybe the long slow troll did something...I don't know. It ran fine once up and going back to the ramp. Any ideas are appreciated.

I had that problem right after the cold weather then I put some super unleaded in it and runs like a charm now .

Yep, you put too much Sea Foam in the fuel. Been their done that. I never put over 1 can to 30gal. or you will have this problem. More is not better and it will not help fuel that is allready bad.

So is this a problem that will fix itself once all the fuel is run out or should I change the plugs like Stick Steering said? I would rather not have to change the plugs multiple times (cost me about $70 in plugs last time!) so should I wait to make sure all of the Seafoam is run through before replacing them if that is what needs to be done?

I was leery of putting too much gas in with the seafaom due to time it takes me to run that much gas out. Can/should I put Stabil or something in the gas along with Seafoam to help stabilize the fuel next time?

The plugs being almost new, I would clean them and add mid-grade fuel as soon as you can. You can take some fuel out and use in your pull truck if gasoline. Yes use the new Stabil for ethanol mix fuels.

One thing you can do if you ever foul your plugs is take the boot for each plug and just place it on the plug . This will create a longer spark that is hotter and will clean up a fouled plug.

I will do like Gary says and clean the plugs and put in some mid-grade gas. Just a couple of questions: How exactly do I "clean" the plugs?

And, I started with 13 gals of gas with one can of Seafoam. I have added 6 gals or so since then. Out of the 19+/- gals with Seafoam, I have run out all but about 4 or 6 gals. Should I just add gas to this since it is such a small amount or should I pump it out and then add new fuel with Stabil?

Sorry for all the questions...I am not too sure of things when it comes to these motors!!!!
