 Need the experts again - black or white? pending Twok record

I caught this one Sunday in my slip & took it to the Fish-N-Store for their certified scales. Let me say thank you so much to the ladies there for all their help not only with the weighing but measuring, pics & all the right forms. They said they needed the game warden to sign off to make it a lake record but he was busy & would be a while so they kept the crappie in their gold fish tank. Later Sunday after we were back in Richardson I got a call from one of the ladys that said the GW would not sign off because it had too many similarities of a white crappie & would have to be transported to Athens. She is keeping the crappie & is going to call another GW today & Athens if necessary. What say the experts - black or white? If this isn't a black then I will not try anymore, I have been waiting on a 2lber & this one is officially 2.1 from the cert scales. From TP&W "There are no distinct vertical bars, rather there are irregular black blotches. The dorsal fin has seven or eight spines" & for a white there is a max of 6 dorsal spines, I thought this was the most deciding factor. Thanks, Don

Nice fish but that is really tough to tell. I would think with the Dorsal Fin count it would be a black but looks really close to being a white too. Tough indeed!

Looks like a black crappie to me.
I cant belive Twok doesnt have a bigger black in the books yet.

Dang it...I would have that lake record on black crappie, then broke the records many times over...within the last 2yrs...

Well, they still say the warden will not sign off & his sig is needed for a T-wok record. I have asked them to send me the paperwork & I will submit it to TP&W with pics & see what happens, I wanted them to release her back while she was still healthy, I'll just see what happens when I submit it but if it doesn't count I'll probably not try again as I can't tell the difference. I wish the GW was as confident as the master (Ernest), They said something about possibly being a hybrid, oh well next one will get eaten since I only caught 4 that day.

Its a Black, and you dont have to have a GW Sig. I have 2 current lake records and neither was signed GW.Send in your paper work along with the ladies as witness's and you will be awarded.
