My dad and I are looking to join a private lake or pit around the Houston area. Can anyone give any suggestions?

I'm familiar with Danbury and Bieri down south. And I've considered those, but I'm looking for something a little less formal (and maybe a little less expensive).

Years ago my dad and I had a membership at an old pit out in Baytown. It was like $1000 year, and you could bring a guest or two each trip for no extra cost. Does anybody know of any arrangement like this within an hour or so drive of Houston (I live in Pearland)?

Any advice or info would be MUCH appreciated.

And for the record, we're not looking to keep any fish. We're saltwater tournament fishermen, and we just need a place to scratch our bass itch.

I did a survey on a lake in Crosby. I'm pretty sure you could by a membership to fish their lake. It was at a grass farm, but I can't remember the name of it. I want to say that they were charging $300

Damon's Seven Lakes isn't far from you. I'm not a member but I have fished it several times and it is very well maintained/managed.

Yeah the lake I did a survey on is owned by the turf grass place. It was a decent lake. It is a big lake but there is a lot of shallow water on the lake and it was almost covered up in coontail. I haven't seen the place in a year so they may have gotten rid of the coontail. I forget what size the fish were stunted at, but if they have started harvesting fish and controlling the vegetation it should be a good lake. There is a Lake in Navasota if your willing to make the drive. Its owned by the Navasota fishing club. Its 40 acres and has a 2.5-3# average on bass with some good fish in the 9# range. I think they wanted $260/year.
