How is the bite at EM these days. I have been on the forum for years reading and now just recently bought my first boat. Having the electronics put on this week or next. I want to learn this lake. If anyone is willing to offer an guided educational trip rather than a guided fish catching trip, I am all for it. Have plenty of fish in freezer, just want to learn how to hunt them when they are not on top. Wont hurt to add a couple more to freezer...hehehehe But really want to learn this lake, I live close by and would like to fish it on a regular basis. I am also a fan of the blues, I had no idea how big the blues are in EM. Everyone talks bout lewisville , but EM has some monsters to. Any referals, advice, or info wou;d be greatly appreciated. Tight lines, JImmy

Welcome to the E.M. Maniacs. Sandjohnny knows all the good spots. Problem is he's so old he can't remember them. Seriously...he's the man. I'm in the same boat as you. Just started sandbass fishing this winter and having a blast so far. Cheers, Jim

Jimmy I booked a teaching trip about 3 years ago with David Everitt on Eagle Mountian. Best thing I ever did. David said he might be retiring from the guide business but saw on the forum here that it was just semi retirement. How can a person retire from being a fishing guide? When all he has to do it float around on the lake find a few fish, unhook those fish for the customer's, keep the boat from breaking down, make the wind stop blowing so hard, hey mister guide when will the fish start biting we have been here for 15 minutes already, could you please turn on the air conditioner it is getting hot out here, etc.... Really a simple job.... Anyone could do it. LOL...
Jimmy if you want to learn the lake call David. His taching trips show you what you need to know not only about Eagle Mountian but how to use that information on other lakes, and you catch some fish while you are there. The best information I got from the trip was how to read and understand the depth finder.
Also David please disreguard the statements above just kidding I know how far a swim it is from the bouy back to West Bay. Surly you wont hold it agianist me the next time we book a trip. lol
Vincent.

Welcome to EM,
I also took a David teaching trip and it helped out a ton! If he has not unretired yet there are a couple of other great guides on the lake Lance and Brother Terry(for the Blues).
You can look for me in the blue and white skeeter fish and ski. I try to post after every trip, however I am mostly a weekend warrior.

I'll second Brother Terry. I'm sure Lance is good too.

PM me or call if you have questions that I can help you with. Any of the above mentioned will help you learn the lake and best techniques for the pattern the fish are on.

Wow thanks a bunch guys. Looking forward to being one of the em maniacs. I read yalls guys post all the time over the years bout the lake. Time to put my reading in to play. I to will be a weekend warrior, will not be able to go durring the week much. Right now boat is plain, no troling motor, graph or gps. But BPS is havong sales this weekend. MIght venture out today and grab some. I have a fish and ski boat, yall think i will have a problem mounting a trolling motor. It is a v hull, not a deep v but close. I know the lake fairly well, but like I was telling sandjohnny, In the past I have always been the kind of guy that if the fish are not on top, i get skunked. Eager to learn the underwater structure and learn how to hunt and stalk these fishies. In fact I prefer fishing like that than i do schooling fish (BOAT SHOWS).Im sure after years of reading and going out woth some folks I may can get this down, then I can get my little ones hooked like i am now. Man if I was half as good as some of the above says I could just put my hands on your head and you would catch all you wanted. Just remember some days you get the bear and somedays the bear gets you. Get your stuffr put togeather and we will give them a go. Johnny

I could just put my hands on your head and you would catch all you wanted. So thats what I have been missing Johnny's been holding out on us. If you're out there when he's out there he'll show you what's what. If they're not there it don't matter whos on station they a'int biting. Johnny does know the lake like no other and he knows the bait he uses like no other and that's what makes him SANDJOHNNY. A good buddy of mine found some sandies working on the surface under birds today. I would've never thought it would happen but he found them and slayed the sandies.....at least what he could in the 10 minutes they were on top.
