Where is a good place to bank fish for crappie on Grapevine? I have a friend who just had surgery on his knee and is on crutches but is going crazy sitting at home.

While I don't mind handing out sandie spots I am a little hesitant telling all about fav bank spots. Do as I and everyone else I know do and head out do some scouting. I am still learning about the habits of white crappie. Back in east Texas the black crappie were very predictable. I can go back anytime and still find them where they were 40 years ago. Best I can do is tell you the basics. All crappie like shade and something to get behind. Sometimes it's just one little stick. They are not too bright when it comes to cover. If they have a 1/4" stick in front of their nose they think no one can see them. There are lots of little fishing trails in the parks you can drive right down to the lake. Good luck.

Try the boathouses. I always have good luck there.

Google maps are one of the fisherperson's best friends. (I started to say fisherman but that's not politcally correct.) You can zoom up to any creek or boathouse on them and look for stucture close to the bank and find the roads to get you there. The vine's boathouses refered to are probably the ones by Oak Grove Park. Those are private so you can't go out on them but you can fish around them. thumb

I'm not sure the exact road it's off of but I know there are alot of them. I know the ones I fish at are at a place called Mcphearson Slough. But i've had luck on the ones right across from there(Oak Grove Park).
