i want 2 buy a new fly rod and i don't know which brand 2 buy. I've been fly fishing before but i didn't use my own rod. this will b my 1st 1 so plz help me. i need suggestions.

I was just thinking the same thing, down to the part where it wasn't me. I've made that mistake before, thank you very much.

Unfortunately, an unbiased opinion about fly rods doesn't really exist. Everyone is proud of their rods.

This thread from about a month ago contains some good feedback on beginner's rods. For my money, I went with TFO rods for my daughter's first rod and the TFO NXT kit for my wife's first rod. Both of those rods were purchased before my daughter joined TFO's Jr Advisory staff, but of course my opinion doesn't qualify as unbiased any more.

This reply could easily read as sort of snarky and even nasty, and it's not intended that way at all. So you know.

Asking which fly rod to buy as your first is a bit like asking which girl you ought to make your first girlfriend. So I will give you the advice I gave my nephew: try as many as you can, and see which one you really want to hang out with the most.

...and no glove, no love. You never know who was handling the flyrod before you were.

anyone who tells you TFO probably has your best interest at heart, they are a lot of rod for the money, I have a 3 wt for bluegills & I love it.
