I need some help on this problem. Got a 98 Honda Civic with the driver's door stuck shut. Both the electric and manual locks seem to be working and the rods seem to be connected. It acts as if the latch itself has frozen.

Any ideas on how to get it open? Googling the problem brings up a method of drilling the latch mounting screws out. Hopefully there is an easier way.

probably have to pull the door panel from the inside if you can. then figure out what happened. the door handle rod behind the panel most likely broke the retaining clip and is hanging loose

remove door panel, disconnect rod from door lock actuator and operate. door should open. problem is getting the panel off
a closed door w/out breaking it.

also once you get it opened, a little grease on the lock assy (latch) itself will do wonders.

This is a problem with Honda cars from time to time. You can't pull the door panel with the door closed. Seems like you have to take a long screwdriver to it with the window down. Once you get the door opened, replace the latch.
