Left San Antonio about 4am to head down to rockport despite the 25-30mph winds that were forcasted. Got there and loaded up with shimp and cut across aransas bay. The water was very clear on that side being protected by san jose. Waded deep waded shallow and only picked up rat reds by the dozen in the pockets. Went to a back lake to join buddy in the mud and 12-18" water. He picked up one but fishing was very scattered. Moved out to the bay side again and the rat reds moved out and the big ones moved in, 15 cast produced 15 25-27" reds, we kept our limit and decided to move on to find drum or specks. Headed north to carlos bay, picked up 2 small drum and CnR'd two more big reds and the winds were starting to howl! Called it a day at 3 and had one helluva ride back in 25+ winds. Did all that in a 16' center console flat bottom, fishing this weekend wasn't for the 'sunny day' fishermen but it paid off, it seemed that we were the last ones on the water, it was a rough weekend for sure

WAY TO GO!!! We fished all up and down the Lydia Ann on Saturday and I guess we just missed them. Got into a few Specs but only had 3 over 15" and one shook the hook as i reached for the net. The only thing we got into on Sunday was 1 keeper Spec and a bunch of big gafftop. Hopefully the next trip will be better and produce some keeper trout and reds.

Rob

One of these days I'm going to Land the BIG ONE!!

I was down there this weekend also and we stayed at the laguna reef. We waded right in front of the hotel for most of the weekend and caught everything the bay had to offer. We probly caught over a 100 rat reds with six keepers thrown in. We caught some preaty nice drum between 18 and 26 inches. We caught a few 15 inch flounder and three 15-16 inch trout. We headed a little further down fulton beach road by balboa courts and fished some rock pyles and did realy well catching sheep head. All the fish were caught either free lining live shrimp or live shrimp on a 18inch liter with a small egg wieght.

P.S., Flemings had nice big live shrimp if any one was wondering about the bait situation down there.

Hey we stayed right down the road at Hunts Castle, I was thinking about wading out between the two piers and do some fishing Sunday morning but stayed up alittle too late on the pier drinking beer.

I'll post the pictures when I get home this evening

i finally got the pictures on my computer

here is two limits of reds, 25-27"

the wind died down at like 6 for about 30 minutes and the bay was calm, i wanted to go back out, but sure enough it picked right up again. you can see my little flat bottom there, 16' of duck hunting fish catching brass balls - look how much [censored] we have on that thing...

my buddy can't take a picture worth a damn, but nothing says a good time like a cold beer and fish to clean

Thats where we were wading at right in between laguna reef and hunts castle pier. Theres a point that goes out right there, you can see it from the shore. Its closer to hunts castle pier then laguna reef.
