I agree, the law says 10 inches for a reason. I have a good friend that when in the boat with me will only keep legal fish, however, when in his boat he will keep about anything. He has this "above the law" attitude and I cant stand it and at time just wish he would get busted. Its all part of wildlife management and the laws are in place for a reason. At least thats what I preach to my two sons and they practice what the law says.

I had 21 all about 12" long in the livewell when the game warden checked me, and 1 9 3/4. I didn't measure any of them, and to me they all looked about the same. cost me $180.00. I measure every thing now if I think it's close.

Won't get me again.

Snowy,
Are kidding me? If the man is fishing for food tell him to go to just about any city park and wear out the bream. But to come on here and say it's ok because the guy is hungry is silly. I know it's hard times right now but to keep undersized crappie or any fish because they "may die" is nuts. The law is the law. And no, I have never kept an undersized fish for any reason. BTW, with the price of the fine he got how much food could he have bought? My 2 cents.

I dont go outta my way to call the wardens. I dont check their lisense's and stuff but I WONT LOOK THE OTHER WAY EITHER.

this taught 2 people a lesson today, the guy who was doing it and since it was my son's birthday i took him with me and he saw what was going on what the RIGHT thing to do was.

good job, I've called game thief once myself. Guy on the san marcos river was using a huge treble hook to snag bass. he walked right up to me, pointed at a fish and said "if they dont bite, i make them bite" and jerked the hook into a nice 6 to 7 pounders gut and winched him in. I got his license plate and the warden met him at his doorstep at home!

Good job.. It's not ours or the game warden's job to interpret the law. That's up to judges. Any law breaking POS can try the old "fishing for food" line. Maybe it'll work for them too.

That one fish will still cost him close to $75. Could bought a basket full of groceries with that money.

Good work! As far as I'm concerned the guy was nothing but a thief since he was stealing the future from all respectable licensed SPORTSMEN. I don't care who you are, if I see game laws or any other laws being broken I feel that it is my duty to report them.

Whew, I'm done playin' now!

those with out sin cast the first stone... laws made are to protect the present and the future of fishing.. Who knows what evil thoughts lurk in the minds of so called humans..

I feel you did the right thing by calling. Sounds to me like he got off easy. I have called the warden before myself. Even if he only had 10 unders that day he may have kept unders before with greater numbers and chances are he would have kept more unders in the future and by you calling he will sure think twice about it.

There are plenty of fish to eat if one is peniless and desperate...

Fish-For-Food = Breams or Carps (no one say carps aren't edible).
Poor Excuse = Illegal Game Fish with Fish-For-Food-Intended.

This guy had 10 illegal fish and we are supposed to feel sorry for him?
Well, there was a guy who shot and killed 10 people tonite in Alabama. Luckily, he killed himself, if not, there always will be some who would interview him and try to understand him and has sympathy for his excuses...

What's funny is that the guy answered that he didn't have any keepers when asked (which means he knows about the 10-inch min. limit), yet, to hide in a Walmart Sack and let them flop isn't what I'd called "unintentionally breaking the law"...

My 2cents...

Snowy,
You have the right to decide whether or not to report someone breaking the law. But you have NO right to call someone a derogatory name because they made their own decision to report it.

Steve
