2009 CATFISH RULES
1. CHANNEL CATFISH ONLY. 10 FISH EACH BOAT WILL BE WEIGHED .
2. ROD FISHING ONLY. 10 RODS MAY BE USED AT A TIME PER BOAT. TWO HOOKS MAY BE USED ON EACH LINE.
3. NO JUGS OR TROTLINES OR LIMB LINES ALLOWED. BANK FISHING IS ALLOWED.
4. CHUMMING AND BAITING HOLES WILL BE ALLOWED. FISH MUST BE ALIVE OR ICED TO BE WEIGHED.
5. SIGN UP MORNING OF THE EVENT AT SANGER ACCESS FOR AN ADDITIONAL $10.00. BETWEEN 5:30 AND 6:00 AM. PREREGISTERED ENTRIES MAY BEGIN FISHING AT 6AM AT ANY POINT ON THE LAKE.
6. ENTRIES PRIOR TO JULY 1ST WILL GO IN DRAWING POT TO GET ONE ENTRY FEE BACK.
7. WEIGH IN AT STARTING AT 3 PM AT THE AMERICAN LEGION POST AT 905 N. FOUNDATION IN PILOT POINT, TEXAS. SCALES WILL CLOSE AT 4PM SHARP. YOU MUST BE IN LINE TO WEIGH WITH FISH AT 4PM OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WEIGH-IN. LYNDEE�S PHONE IS THE OFFICIAL TIME PIECE.
8. IF I DO NOT CONFIRM RECIEPT OF YOUR ENTRY FORM EITHOR BY PHONE OR EMAIL THEN I DID NOT RECEIVE IT AND YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WEIGH-IN. YOU MAIL FORM OR DROP OFF AT LEGION POST.
9. ALL TEXAS STATE AND LAKE LAWS APPLY. LAKE OFF LIMITS AFTER 6PM DAY BEFORE THE EVENT.
10. EACH ANGLER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING THEIR OWN CATCH. COOKS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO FRY THEM. WE WILL SUPPLY ALL THE TRIMMINGS. ANGLERS EAT FREE. FAMILIES ARE INCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE.
11. PLEASE BRING GUEST TO WEIGH-IN. IT WILL BE A FAMILY EVENT.
TRAILERING ALLOWED. TEAMS MUST REMAIN WITH-IN 50 FEET OF EACH OTHER DURING TOURNAMENT.
12. PRE-REGISTER AMOUNT IS $50.00 FOR EACH TWO PERSON TEAM. FOUR ANGLERS WILL BE ALLOWED IN A BOAT BUT STRINGERS MUST BE KEPT SEPERATELY. $10.00 WILL GO INTO THE BIG CATFISH POT AND $30.00 WILL BE PAID BACK. THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY WITH GET $10.00 PER BOAT AS A FUND RAISER.
13. BY SIGNING BELOW YOU AGREE NOT TO HOLD THE AMERICAN LEGION RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACCIDENTS OCCURRED DURING TOURNAMENT.

Does the Big Catfish only apply to Channel Cats?

Channel Cat only.
Probably 15-20 minutes from Sanger Access. Depends on Traffic and trains too. Probably should drive it and judge for your self.

Trailering is allowed. If preregistered you may begin at any point.
Since we have to purchase the trimmings we would like as many pre-registered as possible so we do not run out of food.

Does the big channel cat count for the big fish if it is over 10 lbs?

It can not be brought to weigh-in so no does not. Have you caught 1 on Roberts that big?

Yes! My biggest channel on Ray Roberts is 11 1/2 lbs caught on nightcrawler.

I just picked up a copy of The Lake Ray Roberts fishing Guide from Isle Du Bois and it says the lake record is 4.61.
How do you register a record fish? The Dam store is suppose to get a certified scale but had not last time I checked.
I asked on this site once how to get a scale certified and no one asnwered.

You can get a certified scale at a TPWD office in your area it think..

I just looked up the all tackle record channel cat for ray roberts and it is 23.21 lbs caught 4/4/02 by Lennie Hammonds. So by that you know there are a lot of big ones there, I'm suprized that there is a 4.61 rod & reel record, but it's true!

I've never seen this lake before.. would I be able to handle very well on it with a Jon Boat or is it too big? Its not necessarily the sixe though, is there good shoreline spots?

Probably better in the john boat, there is not a lot of shore-line fishing that you can get to very easily, and by that time the wind might not be too bad, but if it is, don't go out in the john boat, it can get really bad very fast.

All the shore around lake ray roberts is goverment land. So you can fish all around the lake and there are MANY places you can park and walk to the shore around the lake. Its a great lake for Channel Catfish.This will be a good tournament
