I just bought two new trolling batteries. I called Battery plus in Tyler and they sold them for $139.00 a battery. I am not rich, thus I bought the Continentals, for $64.95 from Larry at East Texas Marine. I agree that charging right when you get home will save battery life.

Academy has the Optima batteries???? Heck I talked to a manager of Academy and he did not know what they were and he fishes! I will check, but I got the D31's yesterday for $175 each,,probably paid about $15 too much...
The trollfury would not fit:(
Anybody running the red top for cranking batteries?
I need to see what my three bank guess charger charges at.

Ok, Everstart batteries are the least expensive batteries on the market. While they are cheap, they have to replaced very often. The good thing about that, almost every town has a Walmart.
Interstate Batteries are the best "regular" battery on the market. They have more plates than their counter-parts, and last longer. They are a little more expensive than a regular battery. On average, they are about 7.50 higher than a Die Hard, Cont., or comparable battery. But they last much longer.
Optima Batteries are great. Hold their charge much longer than regular batteries, take half the recharge time, and last much longer.
Trojan makes a great battery.
However, the best battery I have ever come across, is the Dual Pro 2700 series battery. While they are $150 a battery, they are worth every penny.
After a full day, they will recharge in 2-3 hours, even after a very hard burn.
I have fished for three days at Red River, La. without recharging!!!!! They are increadible. How many times have we had a fishing trip cut short by bad batteries. IF you figure the fuel expense, lodging, bait, truck, and maintance expenses into a big fishing trip that is ruined by bad batteries, then you will easily be able to pay the difference in the Dual Pro Batteries.

The blue top-white bottom is for trolling batt. The blue top-black bottom is for cranking. The main advantage of the Optima is no more acid venting during chargeing. Batt connections stay clean. Any Battery will last longer slow charging at 5 amps, but I started useing the Optima because they last so long. Worked on customers boat 2 years ago, he had marked them with a magic marker 1997 they will still charge to 0. Have heard more than one story about them lasting for 7 years.

Check the amps on the charger. I too want to upgrade, however my dual pro series charger only puts out 6 amps per bank and the Optima's say they need at least 8. I think the next step up is 10 so in addition to the extra cost of the batteries I will have to purchase a new charger. Anyone want to buy a used charger?
