The only braid I've used recently was on another boat. It was yellow and black and I believe 65 lb test. From what I remember it was some good stuff. I typically use Cajun red 12 lb.

I personally do not fill my reels all the way up with braid. I will spool about 1/4 to 1/3 with mono, then fill with braid. This works for a couple things. First there will be NO line slipage on the spool. It will greatly reduce the dreaded "Line Burying" that can happen with some braids. And finally it cuts down on the cost of spooling a reel. I go thru lots of line. I will either respool or "reverse" my line atleast once every two months on all my reels. When i say reverse, i unspool all my line down to mono backing into a bucket. Then I dump the bucket over and pick up end of the line that was towards the terminal tackle before. When i respool all the line, what was once inside the reel is now out in the water and what was in the water is now tied to the mono.

Some anglers will never use the bottom third of the spool so reversing it is like putting new line in the water I guess, never done it personally. FishHauler if you want to reverse it just unspool one reel and then reel directly from one reel to the other, REVERSED. Also I realize not the thread SORRY but, to keep the dreaded line buring I roll the first 70 yards as tight as I can when I reel it off of the spool.

One thing I don't see mentioned here is night fishing. I for one love to night fish and don't use braid on my cat and redfish poles because I can't see it at night. I do use braid on all my other poles and wish that someone made a braid that would glow under the light of a red headlamp. I would buy the heck out of that product.
