My friend and I have been fishng three times in the last month and a week and have caught only ONE catfish out of all three times. We fish at Lake Ray Hubbard and have tried Terry Park, Robertson Park, and even around the Texas Queen and on the rocks. We use store bought shad becasue everytime we try to cathc our own, they aren't against the bank. We also use Danny King's. DK is the only thing that has produced the one fish. We have spent about ten hours fishing and are getting discouraged. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

i used to fish hubbard a lot before i got my boat. i feel ya!!! my favorite spot to catch cats was at the shores golf course. i use to go at night so i wouldn't catch any [censored]. the creek that runs all the way up into the golf course holds some big fish! the best part is where it meets a pond at the end of the driving range. i always just chummed the water and used chicken liver. i always tried to find spots on the rest of the lake that weren't beat up to bad by other bank fisherman. for example, find an empty lot in one of the neighborhoods around yankee or rush creek and throw close to the trees. my saving grace as a bank fisherman was chumming. it's the only way! there are some great posts on here about what to use. good luck dude.

Thanks redskeeter1020,
I guess i will try chumming next time. It isn't very deep though out from the bank so I'm not really sure how far I could get the chum. I guess I could try chumming out by the rocks or out at Robertson park and seeing how far I can throw it out.
Thanks again,
any other tips? Anything would be appreciated!

I've had some good results using rotten shrimp as cat bait. Krogers has a 1 pound bag of shrimp for about five bucks. Buy that & take 5-6 of them out about 4 days before you are going to go fishing, put them in a ziploc out in a warm spot & let them sit out & get 'ripe'. Not in the house, obviously, but somewhere neighborhood critters can't get to them. I have some in the back of my pickup right now. Helps deter tailgaters after about a week, too...

Thanks auminer,
I have never thought of that. I might just have to give that a try!
I will have to buy some shrimp and see how they work, rotten, and not rotten. Thanks again!

just go to Kroger or any local grocery store and ask the seafood department for there old shrimp that has gone bad . I can usually haggle them to 50 cents a pound since they are gonna throw them away.
and for chum I usually by a whole chicken or what ever they have that has spoiled for a couple of bucks and drop it into a 5 gallon bucket with a pound of Milo and Maze or any other grain and let this setup in water for 4 days . Every other day leave the lid cracked for a few hours and then replace .
After the 4 day DONT!! open it till you get to where you're fishing . I will poke holes in the side of the bucket and wade out into the water or if my boat is wanting to run I drop it in about 10 feet of water with a anchor of some sort . This chum works and smells so bad you will probably end up puking at least once the first couple of times you use it . but the good thing it last a while if you poke small holes .
I have hit the same hole on lake Arlington for two weeks and the area that I have placed the chum has produced fish.
Good luck and I hope this helps .

I dunno I catch about the same on both . I also throw a Cast net to get shad but I usually end up almost throwing my shoulder out before catching what I believe is enough shad for the particular outing.
