I finally get a couple hours to go fishing, and of course a sand storm blows in! hammer So I go anyway, maybe I can find some shelter from the wind and at least fish, catching would be a perk. I was targeting whatever was biting grin

I tied on a lime green with flash for a tail and cut loose. I did see a couple pods / schools of small carp, but no takers, or even second looks. Its still early for us, and should get better as the month continues.

I ended up loosing my first hit because I wasn't paying attention! But my second hit produced a nice little Asp! dance2

He is a small one, but a fish none the less. Al Faw palace is in the background, an hour later I could'nt see it any longer due to the dust.

On the way back to my chu I ran into these gentleman, they had a hook, line and a piece of styrofoam for a bobber, using bread and rice for bait. They already had one small 10" carp on the bank, and were hoping for more.

We couldn't understand each other, but we shared a common interest.

My brother has a shot very similar to that. He was stationed in Ramadi and Baghdad for a year. Did some fishing while he was there.

I actually had a truckload drive by at another location, they were cheering me on! To them its just a wasted effort since they fish for food, not catch and release. and using a rod is just not something they do very often. Normally its like the picture, a line on a stick, and throw it as far as you can. Size does not matter to them, it eats the same smile
