I'm going to head out there satarday morning, is the normal access by the bridge from galveston still open? Hows the drive down there? I know it off and on from surf side. Thanks.

Yep its still open or was last time i went down to that area, not too long ago. Of course 4 wheel drive is always advisable...good luck, watch the current out there, can be very dangerous.

Its driveable, but dont go fast. Parts are washed out and they have you detour to the beach on parts as well, you can easily travel that part without a 4 wheel drive.

Yeah I've got a 4x4. Made sure of that. I didnt think the road from galveston was hurt, but my parents will be making the drive from the surfside end to a beach house on the pass in 2 weeks (me too, of course!), and they're not too good at the whole no pavement thing...
