Well, after hearing my daughter's boyfriend go on and on about the crappie they'd been catching last week before the cold front hit, I had to go and see for myself on Wednesday (the 4th). We put in at Britton Park and went up the creek, past the second bridge and into the creek arm.
Now let me warn you. It's shallow. We're talking about around a foot deep between the two bridges. In fact, there is a huge water portable water pump on the bank (for the gas rigs) and you have to hug their floats pretty tight to get by.
Once you've cleared the second bridge, start moving closer to the right bank. It's deeper and the creek channel runs along there somewhere. Once you hit the timber, you'll be right on the right bank. No worries from here on out, the depth in the creek is anywhere from 6-8 feet deep. It's just getting this far that can be a problem. If you have a larger boat, you might want to consider just walking in. Probably would have been easier.
The fishing: Yes, Wednesday was only the second day of warm weather and, as you can expect, it was slow at first. We got in there just after noon and the water temp was reading 55. 2 hours later, it was up to 60 and the fish started biting. They were literally right on the banks around brush and timber. We're talking less than a foot of water for the most part.
Over the next two hours we managed about 30 fish with about 10 of them being keepers. Betting Thursday would have been better, but I was too busy paying for going fishing with the flu the day before. Guessing the rain we're supposed to get will mess things up a bit next week, but who knows? At any rate, maybe we'll get enough to raise the level a little. Most of the best looking cover was at least a foot or two out of the water.

Nice report. I went by there this week and it is way low out there. It sucks they are letting the gas rigs pump water out of the lake.
Yes I did admit defeat. Good job back to back champion

Were you jigging or using minnows. I live at Britton and they have been sucking water out for the gas wells for a long time. I figured the crappie would be headed that way pretty fast, just hate that its so low.

Not to hijack, but anyone know how far they pump that water? I would assume once the wells are capped there wouldn't be much of a need for the pump, but of course I have no idea if they are pumping all the way over the Kennedale and the like.

They do not pump the water all that far. All the ones I see they get a water source nearby. If they put them in Mansfield they have to use city water.
