I love the white bass fishing around lake waco. I mostly fish form the bank and this lake gives me good access to some hot spots. What is the latest on the white bass fishing?

If anyone has tips on other great bank fishing white bass spots in the area love to hear about them. I appreciate the news and advice.

Blessing and great fishing

my brother and i fish the south/middle bosque {living in hewitt its closer than going across the lake to the north}. the recent cold fronts seem to have turned the fishing off a bit...we usually fish around the split of the south and middle bosque up to and just past the twin rivers golf course...but with the lake being really down, we can only get to the old bridge pilings at the end of barrett rd.{just off of mclennan crossing rd} there are a lot of places there to fish from the bank there. if you have a canoe or kayak, there is a decent place to launch it there. two weeks ago we caught 21 whites in 2 days, but the last 2 times we have gone back out there, we have had a grand total of 2 fish...we talked to several other people in boats and on shore and got the same story..nothing. it is still a little early...and hopefully these cold fronts will get out of here and maybe the bite will turn back on here...

not to discourage people from enjoying time on the water but I fished the middle today and could not scare up one bite from a white bass. I used a silver and white rooster tail and an f7 rapala in original so maybe they didn't like what I had. I also fished from 6:30 till about 10 A.M.

south bosque report- my brother and i went out about 2:30 sunday afternoon. water is still low and as stained as ever. water temp was between 66-68. thank goodness...10mph winds..perfect!1 went just above the split in the middle and south bosque. not much luck there so we decided to slow troll out way back to the lake..caught 7 fish on the way out- 2 black bass {dinks}, one nice 14in crappie and 4 whites {3 keepers-although we did throw them back-didnt feel like cleaning fish!!} did catch one white that was a pole breaking 6 1/2 in!! ha ha i have seen bigger bait fish!! with this drought on the water is just not flowing at all, which mean the white will be hanging out in the main part of the lake...not a bad day of fishing at all and love the time change...not bad getting off the lake at 4:30 and know we had at least 2 more hours we could have fished...yyz

Thanks for the update again YYZ. I hope to try top go to the south this week, since all the rain and now sunny warm weather I hope it sparks the run up into the creeks. Like to find them there so take my boys to catch their first whites. Did you try any over the last weekend, Sunday maybe since it warmed up?

middle bosque report- what a diff a few days make...40 degree diff in friday and today. water temp is in the upper 50's to low 60's in most places and muddy. as expected, the recent rains have improved lake levels, but there is alot of trash/trees/limbs in the water so watch it out there. we were able to get by the golf course {twin rivers} finally, but bigger boats might find it diff to get through the sand bar still..our bass tracker went right through but a larger ranger kind of got stuck and a poor kid had to really push it on through. the shores off barrett rd were full of people...and the middle bosque navy was out in force too. we caught 34 whites in about 2 hours. we were using white and red head grubs/ white road runners and silver in line spinners...all 3 worked well. most fish were in the 10-12 in range ... we only kept 6 and they were all over 14 inches...nearly everyone was catching fish around us...even a fly fisherman we ran into. the run is on for sure!! everyone had striggers full of whites..the only bad thing...we saw sev boats and people on shore with some very small looking whites...and we saw one boat throwing several fish that looked like they were, at most, 8 inches...not going to wish anything bad on people...but where is the game warden when you need one...going try and get some pics posted if i can figure it out...yyz
