I am working with a casting bubble on a spinning outfit for the time being. When the bream are biting top water the bubble and most any dry fly will be hit. I am looking for streamers that look like bait fish. Some kind of fly that I can get down under a couple of feet. Walmart and Academy have some poppers and dry flies but nothing designed to be fished below the surface. Haven't been to BPS yet. Any of you fly tiers want to fix me up? I will gladly pay a fair price and shipping.

There's nothing like a good beadhead woolly bugger in that kind of situation. Angler's Dream has always been really good to me with regard to flies. Take a look in the streamers section and you'll find a great plethora of flies from which to choose. For bream, I'm a big fan of Jansen's Shad. I've got a couple of those in a size 8 and they do really well. Good luck.

I had never seen one of those before. It's sort of a bugger with chain eyes and a beard isn't it? That's pretty cool and I think I might could tie one of those. You're a good man, Charlie Brown. Are these constructions/instructions consistent with how you normally tie yours?

Google is a wonderful thing. I just edited my post to ask if those were the instructions you used as you were posting. We've got a whole Gift of the Magi thing going here.

Grandpa I have been working on the boat, and haven't been tying hardly at all. Seems like it is taking forever. I've only done the bottom with sanding and priming. Working on the top of the outside right now. If you figure out the kind of fly you want, and I know how to tie it, I will do some flies for you in the future. Sorry but right now I am just not able to do anymore stuff. Too many irons in the fire so to speak. If not for that I could fix you up. If you can wait a while, I will be done with this thing, and have a little more time. I still have gardening and stuff that needs to be done too. The yard is a mess. Mainly I have a ton of WEEDING to do, another thing I do not like to do at all. Weeding is tedious, dreadful work. I like the watering part, and plucking fruit and veggies though.

A good dropper for bream is a power bait maggot on an egg hook. I know this is techincally not a fly but it works great. I ty and if you know what you want pm me and I can hook you up. We can talk price when you know what you want. I also make braded flies for bream that are almost indestructible. I don't have a pic of one but will post one when I can.

How deep you wanting to fish? you wanting the fly to suspend or are you trying to drag the bottom? If it's bream your after and you want to suspend just below the surface, try doping your leader and any nymph pattern with some Xink. http://www.flyfishonline.co.uk/images/catalog/Gherkes_20Xink.jpgUsing a weighted fly would be another option. A good mid depth baitfish pattern would be a Black Nosed Dace and they can be tied in smaller sizes for bream.
