I'm looking into buying some good fishing sunglasses. What are the best polarized glasses out there?

There are many great brands but get the one's that fit your face the best and are the most comfortable. Costa Del Mar's are one of the best.

I second Costa Del Mars for fishing. I prefere the bronze lens with the green mirror finish. They work in both bright and overcast conditions.
Another great 'all around' sunglass company is Maui Jim. They have a great warranty (I know from experience), but for fishing applications Cosa's win out in my book.

Costa Del Mars are really good but also buy you a pair of those cheap(under $10)polarized glass' that Academy or Wal mart sells and wrap them up and put in your tackle bag for later. I have a glass holder pocket on my tackle bag and carry a cheap pair in it for me or my fishin buddies just in case we loose ours. They will get used sooner or later.

Thanks all. Any comments on the Wiley X glasses advertised in BASS magazine? I have had a pair of Maui Jim's and they do have a great warranty and they stand behind it. They are just not that great on the water. I'm looking for glasses that totally eliminate glare on the most sunny days of the year. I have heard the Costas are really good. A little pricy but I guess you get what you pay for.

As for Costa being expensive, last time I checked Maui Jim's were just as bad. Both are great glasses but Costa's are better for fishermen. I use The Costa Man-o-wars. I have a pair in the blue mirror and one in the silver mirror. The silver is better for sight fishing.

oakley polarized, awesome fit, and they have lots of styles. work well too.
and whats awesome is that if you have your glasses for long enough, and the lenses get bad, you can just buy new lenses. Or thats what i did with my half jacket XLJ's

For the dirt cheapest polarized that work well, try the Renegades from Wal-Mart. They also have polarized Renegade bi-focal 1.5X & 2X models that work well if you are using reading glasses these days. For non-bi-focal polarized, probably the next step-up are these: http://www.fishgillzusa.com/sunglasses.htmThese glasses float & they have lenses made by 3M.

Costa's! Specifically a pair of Hammerheads with backwater green lenses and tortoise shell frames so you can be cool like me. HA!...all kidding aside though. Costa del Mar makes one fine product. They're light weight, they wrap around and contour to your face so they dont slide down your nose, and the lenses are high quality. Takes glare away big time.

There are several good brands, but the one I believe is the best is Oakley. Don't even think about buying the cheap roadside ones, they are fake and nowhere near the real thing except for appearance. Also there is no such thing as factory 2nds. I have been to the actual manufacturing facility in California behind the scenes and the second they are found imperfect, the glasses are cut in half on the spot. If you have ever seen the traveling Oakley display, you will never question their quality. The technology and testing used is unparalleled. KVD and Kelly Jordon use the MONSTER DOG quite a bit. The polarization process is what makes the Oakleys so good for fishing. It is not a film that is layed over, but another process that they developed incorporated into the lens. The athletes that need their eyes to make a living choose Oakley and they have millions on the line. The cost is a little bit more than some other glasses, but you can't put a price on eyesight. Ask anyone that is losing their vision and they'd pay anything to have it back. ---- RF
