Can you catch redfish in the Neches or Sabine Rivers where they empty into Sabine Lake? Or are these kind of fish just in the lower part of the lake by Sabine Pass? I appreciate any help.

Reds are all over the Sabine system (North to South)and in the rivers mentioned. Run the LA bayous too and hit the points and cuts. Gulp under a cork works well, as do soft plastics. If you get in the marsh ponds, keep a spinnerbait handy, the reds hammer those too. Try baits with some chartreuse color, tail dye, jig head. Good luck.

Hey Shearwater I didn't see you on the lake Saturday! Caught some really nice specks on Corkys near Stewt's island. The bite stopped when that 20 mph northwest wind switched to the north at 30 mph. Would up with six fish over 20" in about 2 hours fishing. Not bad for the conditions.

I didn't see me there either. :-) Been tied up on a project - my boat is trying to 'buck out' of the garage... Glad to hear you are still having good success out there. Best of luck.

I started fishing Sabine out of a bass boat. I like the Park on Pleasure Island just N of the MLK bridge. See sign for Sharkys Bait and Grille, turn there. Also on the South end the LA launch across the causeway is open. North end try the launch under the Bridge next to Esthers in PA - http://www.estherscajunseafood.com/
Also try the River Rats Marina launch off of the river at Adams Bayou and Plant Road - it drops you in the river just upstream of the power lines and you can fish some of the protected stuff/bayous up there and also stick your nose into the lake. I carry both the TX and LA fishing licenses to be safe - the LA bayous are worth a shot. Check out Google earth maps and use the satellite feature and it will open your eyes. There are other launches but these are the only ones I have used. I am sure ithers will chime in. Also, the lake can get mean when it blows - so wear your PFDs and respect the conditions. Check out Dickie Colburns reports at www.sabinelake.blogs.com too. Good luck.

Hey Rick... I haven't forgot about you. Just waiting for the weather to turn around. Especially the wind... LOL. Hopefully it won't be long before we can start hitting it on a regular basis.
