I always get checked at least once sometime during the year. It doesn't bother me since they are just doing their job. One of my hunting partners is a Warden and I know their working situations a little better than most.

Been checked a few times on Rayburn over the years, but never any problem. They always go through their routine and leave me alone.I don't mind it at all.

Now if you are on Lake Nacogdoches you better have everything in order. The city took control many years ago and they police it well. Been checked most trips during the summer but not during the winter. Occasionally I will get a check by the police and then a game warden. Never a problem with any of them and have always been treated well. I don't mind the intrusion at all.

I've been checked a couple of times hunting and once for fishing. Didn't even have the boat in the water or a line out. Just "you going out fishing?" ...."I need to see your license." All occasions the game wardens were very cordial.

I was checked 3 times in one day on Belton. The fact that my buddy had a case worth of BL cans in an empty ice bag prolly didn't help much.Never had any trouble with any GW pulling up and doing a safty check,or a license check for that matter.I'm always glad to see them out & about.I did get a warning once,my moter wasn't listed on my card.

I was checked once last year at Whitney. Put in and started motoring out. Got stopped a couple hundred yards from the ramp. They spent five minutes asking if I had the requisite safety equipment and looking at my numbers and 20 minutes chatting about my bout, which I built.

Back home, we'd get checked all the time in the Potomac. If you give them a smile and a wave as they roll up, it sets a good tone.

Over 60, never been checked.

Watched 2 fellows carry out more white bass and hybrids than I could count earlier this week...strung on a pole between them like carring a small animal. Made me sick.

I wish there were more wardens checking. I understand that the State doesn't have unlimited resources, but wouldn't it seem logical that a Game Warden would at least be active on the major white bass runs?

Operation Game Thief helps I suppose but we need more wardens.

I fished Cedar Creek since I was old enough to hold a fishing pole and it wasn't until I was sitting on a dock pretty much just killing time, but dangling a worm for cats at about age 30 with a couple of friends did a warden ever come and check me. I had my license but my friend's wife did not and he was nice enough to let her off with a warning.

I've been checked several times on other lakes, all good experiences EXCEPT for lake arlington. Had a couple of what looked like high school kids fresh out of the academy give me a ticket because I was delinquent in putting my numbers on my new boat...by like 5 days. Very ticky, tacky they were running around the lake giving all kinds of lame tickets to guys in our club, most wardens are great but watch out for newbies with something to prove.

I've been checked in the past, but not in a long time. It also seems like when you very least expect it they show up.

I got a ticket on Amistad just 3 weekends ago and the JP canceled the ticket. What a guy!!!
A buddy of mine has a large ranch above Bronte and threw a Deer Hunter party back several years ago - one of the hunters had a bunch of beer in him and he was talking to me and several people and was telling us how he went and used to dynamite a hole somewhere. 2 of the guys in my company were Gamewardens and one was a Judge....shut the guy down when they introduced themselves and asked "just where have you been fishing?"

Never been checked yet. Did have a game warden pull up to the boat years ago when we were trying to dislodge a piece of stump from our prop near Marshall creek on the vine...He thanked us for clearing out a new boat lane for him. Good guy with a sense of humor to boot!

Here's some fun for ya. If ever get caught without a "Throwable" ask the officer if they would pleae show you one so you would know "What Kind To Buy". It has happned on more than one occassion that an enforcement vessel fails t have one "either". smile

Good Fishin,
Bo

i'm 24 and it sounds like i've been checked more in a week than many have in their entire lives. i'm from corpus and we usually get checked a couple times a week. during duck season we get checked everyday usually without exception. the wardens still check us even though they know us and have checked us hundreds of time before. i don't mind, keeps the poachers away. they're good during hunting season about waiting and watching until theres no ducks in sight or working us.
