Let's try and put our fishing reports on this thread so that we'll have them all together.

Wednesday I went tubing at the lake in Prosper, unsure if anything would be biting yet. I started off with a Peck's Popper, but caught nothing on it. I then switched to one of Dale's 60 degree-bend clousers and caught a 12" crappie and an 8" bass. Next I put on a Tiny Fluke and caught two 1# bass. Next I switched to a red 4" lizard and caught one 1# bass and one 8" bass. The bite stopped at about 10:00 am.

Last night I went to the local golf course and started with a black #8 wooly bugger and caught one 10" bass and three crappie - the biggest crappie was 13 1/2 ", the other two were 12" ea.

Friday morning it was relatively calm, very warm, and overcast. Unfortunately the fish I can cast to in my office are not taking any of the flies I'm offering. I'll chalk that up to presentation as the clearance for casting is limited and I keep getting tangled in the ceiling fan.

I'll try to post tomorrow when I might actually get to go outside and enjoy the weather gods gift to us of the traditional spring weekend forecast of a 25 degree drop in temperature, winds gusting to 93 MPH out of the North, and a drop in barometric pressure to rival that of the stock market. I have decided to name this weather pattern the Eljerko in honor of how jerked around we feel at seeing beautiful fishing weather all week and a winter wonderland on the weekends. smile

I am back from Colorado, and was thinking of starting fishing again, but as Txredraider said, seems the weather is taking a turn for the worse. I bet Cedar Creek is fishing pretty good now. Need to plan a trip soon!

ccabal glad you are thinking of fishing again...you have been awfully quiet, and I do love reading your posts, and gleaning from your knowledge about fishing.

Feb 27: Got skunked bad today. Not even a bite, but with a cold front on the way and surface temps pretty cold, I didnt expect much, but getting skunked was not fun. Oh well thats why they call it fishing, not catching.

Went to the hole on 9th and Lamar today for some follow up urban fishing. Caught about 15 nice gills(hey they were fun on a two weight) And Four Rio grandes. I never realized that they had such viscious teeth. The weather was super nice and I even had an audience at the Shoal Creek Saloon Not a bad day if I must say. They love those cats whiskers.

Fished the pond behind Davis Library for a little while this morning and came away with one 1 1/2# bass caught on a chartruese, cone-headed 60 degree bend something or other.

A friend and I went to the trophy trout area of the Guad yesterday. Fished 4 hours with only one small bluegill to show for our efforts. I could see trout rising on occasion but couldn't get a bite. Seems there was allot of subsurface debris floating downstream for some reason. The wind didn't help my meager casting abilities either. I'm anxious to try my hand at fly fishing for bass soon. Just have to find the right area to do it.

I braved the gale yesterday and took the 6-wt rod to the lake up in Prosper with a fellow DFF'er who brought his 'yak. We stayed in the protected area where the creek flows out of the impoundment and found it pretty castable in there since it's sheltered from a south wind. Whitecaps + float tube + fly casting = somebody else's idea of comedy.

I caught a nearly 3-lb bass on a "halloween leech," basically a bh woolly bugger tied with black & orange. This was one of the harder-fighting fish I've caught in recent memory and despite getting skunked otherwise, it made my day. Ed hooked up on maybe a 1-lb bass, and later caught a nice Crappie. It's still pretty slow but there are signs of spring and the water is warming up. This will be a great pond for topwater action and I can't wait - if it's fishable in 20-knot winds, it should be great in anything less than that.

Thanks - I seem to be in a quality-over-quantity mode right now. Catching very few fish but the size has really been there. I think it's going to be a good fishing year.
