I went by there last Saturday just to look around. There were two guys fishing in the dock at the marina, and had 10 or twelve keepers apiece. One of them caught one over 2 lbs while I was there. The water in the marina is 2'-3' deep.

Boat ramps are a little sketchy, but the lady at the marina says the the ramp at Liberty Hill closest to the dam is usable.

I launched at Liberty Hill today. The ramp is in good shape, just a bit shallow. Didn't get much fishing done due to the wind. Spoke with a guy at the marina he said they bit good early, then shut off. Waiting on rain now.

Its only 3 feet low which is not low at all for that lake (it gets 10 to 15 feet low periodically in the summers), both liberty hill ramps should be fine. Don't know about the crappie bite, but the bass report is good to excellent, they seem to be biting old school baits, with them biting on motoroil worms and manns strawberry jelly worms.

Here's a report from the marina I just received today.

Date: February 26, 2009
Water Temperature: 58 degrees
Water Level: 3.33 feet below normal
Water Visibility: 6 inches

Crappie: Fair to Good
Crappie fishing continues to improve as the water temperature increases. Several 1 to 2 lb crappie were caught at the Marina today on minnows and jigs. There were spans of good fishing throughout the day in water depths ranging from 2 to 4 feet. There has been news circulating of a local fisherman who caught 3 crappie that weighed over 3 lbs. We are hoping to get photos of his catch.

Catfish: Good
Small catfish (less than 12 inches) have been caught around the fishing piers on minnows.

Largemouth Bass: Fair
1 to 1.5 lb bass are hitting minnows around the fishing piers.

Crappie Tournament
The monthly crappie tournament begins March 1, 2009 at the Marina. The entry fee is $5 with 100% payout (1st place 70%, 2nd place 30%).

guitarbob, did you go to the marina today or call them? I have never fished there. Went there to look around a while ago and water was so low and no fishing. I understand from several people there are a few fishing now at the marina and from your report. I might get out there and check it out. Not tomorrow though, going to BPS tomorrow night.

Fished wed-night, would like to know who is doing the measuring, they must have a foreign tape measure. We walked down the middle of the creek bed to the mouth of the creek. I am 6ft tall the water would normally be at my chin at the very least. I wade fish this creek every year, there will be no creek fishing this year without rain soon. Oak park is barely launchable, night fishing was slow to say the least wed-night. The marina would be your best bet for now. Good Luck, and pray for some rain, but not to much.

Went to the fishing dock yesterday afternoon, bite was slow.Don't know if it picked up after about 6:00pm.The fish that were caught during the time I was there were quality fish.Water level at the dock 2-3 ft.Come on Rain.
The folks at Navarro Mills Marina have done a really nice job with the fishing dock.It is lighted has plenty of brush and condos.Seating is great, very comfortable.Don't worry if you forget something, they have everything you need.

Gloria, that was ans e-mail I received. You can sign up for e-mail updates on the marina website. http://www.navarromillslake.com/Fishing_Report.html

I got in from Houston about 1:00 today and rode out to the marina to look around before I went to my office. There was a couple with a 17'-18' Triton bass boat, and they had a heck of a time getting out. After they got the boat out, the guy tried to pull up to the courtesy dock to pick up his wife and got stuck. They both wound up getting wet up to their knees pushing the boat out. Another couple came in in an Alumicraft V-hull and didn't have as much trouble. So, if you go by yourself, you might as well wear shorts and flip flops.

I talked to a guy at crappie point, and the guy in the Alumicraft. They both caught 1 fish apiece. The marina is nice. I think there have been some nice fish caught there lately. I have to move my mom this weekend so if I get to fish, it won't be for long.
