I have a lowrance x15 and went and bought the hotmaps (classic series) today at bass pro. When I install it into the unit none of the lakes show up on the map. What am I doing or is there something else that I need for this to work? I asked the guy at bp and he told me all I do is install it into the unit and the lake maps should show up. Not quit that easy! HELP!! HELP!!!

bassmaster; I have a Lowrance global map 4000, and when I got my navionics chip I experienced the same problem. Call navionics and they will walk you through the process, or ship you one to download all info that is needed to get yours working properly. They sent me one to download and I shipped it back to them at no cost to me. If you have any more questions e-mail me and we can talk further. Good luck.......Perry Williams

I've got the new LMS-332C and had the same problem. I think you have to go to the Navigation Map options and pick one of the region files on the options display to pull up the lakes off your Navionics memory card.

Thanks for the info guys. Dube, that was the problem. I have been trying to figure that out since I got it. That is a neat little chip. Just wish it had a few more lakes on it.

good_skeeter_man, I've been considering getting that chip, is it the info is bad or does it require you to change your datum info. I now I fished Gunnerville and the hump I was looking for was some place on land. Found a listing on the map that said what datum date was used made the change then it all lined up.

Navionic told me all I had to do is to set it to read it's card. Done that and still way off. I will be setting 50 to 100 feet off. They wanted me to send in the information every time I found an error. I told them to fly a kite. The hole thing is off. I think it just needs adjusting but they where unwilling to help. Yesterday I was in Bell Branch, first cove on the right and it showed me on top of the hill, amount in the water on the other side. Try just downloading the Lowrance's map from http://www.lowrance.com/ it's right on the money. If I could get the Hot Spot info on the Lowrance Map I would be one happy fisherman.

I bought the Navionics chip a couple of years ago and found that on Lake Fork it is way off in places. I had many conversations with them on the telephone and by e-mail about the problems and reported specifics to them.
The free "detailed" map from Lowrance is much more accurate!
A year or so back they came out and did an "on-the water" resurvey of Fork, BUT the results of that are not available for older units like my X-15. It is only available for newer Lowrance units and I believe the chip now costs ~$200 vs the $129 for the old Region 7 chip.

I looked at these at BPS Saturday. They are much better detail than the free one from Lowrance, But still don't have the same inf the Navionic has. I still might try one. Thanks

What are you looking for? Submerged timber, submerged vegetation, submerged roads, foundations, submerged trash piles, submerged ponds, and unlimited zoom? They have all of that for the maps that are of the hotspots version.

I'm willing to do a temporary swap with someone with the navionics so we know the differences.
