Whats the big deal we have them critters hear in Texas. We just call them Gar. We have more of them gator gar,long nose gar,short nose gar,spotted gar... No need to travel thousands of miles to catch a gar when they are all around us.   I see your point. But they do fish quite differently than gar even though there is a slight similarity.

caught a couple in sweden a couple months ago. i dont think they fight better then hybrid/stripers
