Is there any water at bend? I would be willing to bet if the lakes 15' low it will be pretty slow at Sulphur Camp.

just got back today. We caught 8 crappie and 1 drum. No whites to be seen. and the water level is just below the boat ramp at the state park. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone, new here. Usually on THF.

A friend from work went to Bend twice last week, limited out on whites one day and caught 11 the other day. Wade fishing near the boat ramp. The day he limited out he had 21 males and 3 females in the bunch.

This early they will be very touchy to even mild cool fronts. One day may be a barn burner and the next you can't buy a fish.

I'm headed there this weekend. Just curious to see what it looks like. I'll post a report and a few pics after.

Fished Friday afternoon til dark. Suprisingly I met an old classmate there. Funny, I didn't know who he was when we were talking. We happened to mention our hometown (Lampasas) when we realized who each other was. LOL Anyway, he moved back to Lampasas and fishes there regularly. He told me he's been having luck near the ramp. He fishes with a group of about 5 guys that seem to catch fish. Claims they catch their limits frequently.

I wade fished upstream from the ramp. I decided to practice using my fly rod. About 5PM the group of guys waded in beside me. (I guess I found their spot) We all fished hard. By the time I left (6:45PM) the guys had about 4 to 5 fish each. I caught 7 or 8 fish. 2 crappie, 2 gasper goo, 4 whites. Only one was a keeper.

I heard the other guys talking they were suprised that they didn't catch more than what they had. Most talked of the many fish they caught only Thursday evening.

It seems, there are fish there. They seem very picky about the lures used. The guys around there talked about how the river is blocked downstream preventing many of the whites to migrate upriver to the state park. The water is very low. But there is more water there than I had imagined. I may be back out this weekend. Even though I didn't catch much, the scenery is beautiful there.

Here are a few pics that I took with my phone. Hope this helps.

Here is a view from the boatramp.

Here is downstream from the ramp.
