Having some trouble with my Lowrance LMS160 seeing fish arcs and structure. In fact I turned the sensitivity all the way up to get a good bottom structure reading but still no arcs. The transducer is evidently mounted in the transom some where but, I haven't found it. Thought mAybe my transducer was tilted, but with it being in the transom, it should be glued down? Anyway I have a 01 Trtiton TR22. Any help would be appreciated

IF YOU WILL NOTICE IN MOST ALL THE DEMO'S THAT YOU SEE, THE WATER IS FAIRLY DEEP. YOU WILL NOT NORMALLY GET A FULL ARC UNLESS THE FISH HAS MORE TIME IN THE CONE OF THE TRANSDUCER. A WIDER CONE TRANSDUCER WILL PRODUCE BETTER HOOKS BUY I PREFER THE NARROW ONES. JUST LEARN TO READ WHAT YOU ARE GETTING.

Look in your bilge area, that is the lowest point in the back of the boat where your bilge pump is. You say in the transom, but thats the vertical back where the motor's mounted. I don't think it's inside there, but I guess it's possible.

If it's not in the bilge, look at where the wire goes below deck and try to get a general idea which direction it goes from the fish finder. If there's any slack, try to move it around and have someone listen for where they think it's going.

Lowrance used to use a puck style transducer for thru hull mounting. It was to be epoxied in place. I think now they just tell you to epoxy the skimmer type that comes with the unit.

If it's not epoxied in properly, or if there are air bubbles or voids in the fiberglass, then you won't get a very good signal. The epoxy used has to cure solid. If the bond is flexable, like RTV, you'll have trouble also.

Also, feeding crappie show up as vertical lines instead of arcs.

I have adjusted my settings so that I am finally getting some arcs...but only deeper like Ernest said. I have increased the sensitivity to max and increased the grayline setting. Finding brushpiles now too. I have a X-75 on the front with the transducer mounted on the trolling motor and it works reaaly well. Thanks fellas...What we do with out sites like this?
