Just an FYI for all of you that renew your sticker by mail. I called the office about a week and a half ago and was told that a new manager took over this process and now requires that all applications include your "original" boat registration card (copies no longer accepted). On top of this the office is only open Monday - Friday 8-5pm so that means that you have to either mail in the original card or take time off work to go in person.
I called the office and spoke to a very nice lady that told me about the policy change but she had already been taking some heat about the issue and that they were allowing copies of the registration card. She then transferred me to another person. I told him that there was no way for me to go in person to renew and that there was no way that I was mailing in my "original" registration card. He told me to send a copy with all other required documents and that it would be fine.
Well today I got a letter along with my check and documentation stating that my application was being returned because the office is now under new management that requires the "original" registration card to be presented. I am sorry but there is no way that I am mailing them my original card. The card could be lost in the mail or in their office and then I am left with the bill and hastle of replacing the card. It also means that I am not legal if I go fishing while they have my card processing the application.
I plan on calling tomorrow and discussing this with the "new manager". Anybody else had this problem?
***UPDATE***
I spoke with the management at the lake office and she was extremely accommodating to listening to my concerns. She completely understands our points of view on the situation but informed me that her hands are tied.
I am taking this to the next level. Keep in mind that if you pay city of Fort Worth taxes, your council men/women are up for re-election in May.
I need anyone that has had an issue getting a sticker to send me a PM with your Name and email address. I especially need this if you pay Fort Worth taxes. I will comprise a list of names, NOT email address, that will be attached to my email that I will be sending.
I TRULY believe that together we can make a difference.

You might consider contacting TPWD and get some feedback from them regarding the concerns for sending in the original boat registration card, seeing how they are the issuing agency. Don't think they are going to be wanting to issue duplicate cards for ones that become lost.

That is a good idea, Thanks! That was my biggest fear is USPS losing the card and me having to go through the time and trouble to get it replaced. Not to mention not being legal while this process was taking place.

I was able to pull up this info "The City of Lake Worth is not affiliated with with Lake Worth, a permit through the city is not required". Contact local Parks and Wildlife department for permit info. The local Parks and Wildlife office is located 7601 Cahoba St. Ft. Worth. Ph. (817)237-6890. This is not the Fort Worth TPWD office; from what I am seeing it must still be affiliated with the City of Lake Worth, though not in name.
