Indeed they ARE junk! Nope... They are the wooden ones. The rats keep stealing the food on the traps and not setting the traps off.

I like the new t-rex traps vs the old style rat traps. I am literally afraid to set the old style as they are so sensitive I am afraid it will snap my fingers off when I am trying to set it. The t-rex traps do not put your hands and fingers in peril.

T rex trap in action: I like the idea of putting it vertically on walls where they travel.

I like the wood traps better than the plastic ones, and the rodents really like peanut butter best thing i have tried is stuffing a cotton ball into the trap and covering the cotton in peanut butter.

I surely beg to differ that nothing over the counter can be a secondary poison. I have nursed many a dog thru near renal failure from some and from internal damge from the ones that contain warfarin, I.e. the ones that make them hunt water, they can seriously injure a large dog. I just had to add this because it is hard to watch your animal have to go thru, not trying to stir anything.
If you don't really want to know, then don't ask me, because I will tell you ! Just Remember : Cain't never could, and gimme' died in the Whorehouse.

You might try a piece of bacon, cooked but not crispy, and use a bread tie to fasten the bacon to the bait holder on the trap. Rats love the bacon, and the twist-tie makes it hard to get off......then Wham-O!! When you absolutely, positively need to kill some f'in rats, there is no substitute for a good rodenticide/poison.
I will have to side with Lane on the water myth and the secondary kill. The water myth holds some truth in that poison does make those little bass-terds thirsty, but with poison it is not possible to predict where the rodents will die. There is also NO secondary kill or effect if a dog eats a poisoned rat...and I've got 12 years experience in pest control, so I know a little bit.

There are alot of opinions about rodenticides on here. The rodenticides available for over the counter purchase will not...I repeat WILL NOT cause secondary poisoning! Chances are pretty good those of you who have experienced these issues, have had your pet actually consume some of the rodenticide itself.
The LD/50 of these products is such that what a rodent can consume before dying would not be sufficient to cause anymore than an upset stomach in your pet.
If you place these throw packs in your garage, attic, crawl space, shed, etc and do not secure them, rodents will carry them away either in whole or in part(Ever found Pecans or walnuts in your attic or shed). Any Pest Control Operator worth his weight in salt knows to use tamper resistant bait stations to disburse rodenticides. The bait is fastened inside and can not be hauled or shaken out of the station.
This is what your animal has eaten that made them sick, not the rat. This product is designed to smell good and taste great, so when the rodents relocate it to an area accessible to your pet they are going to eat it.
I tried to give Nascar Chuck some good free advice to help him out and then the pot got stirred..Not my intention.
Nascar Chuck, if your still having issues give me a call.
Thanks...

I had a pretty good size rat last year that was as big as a squirel he was actually climbing the tree in the backyard to eat the birdseed I had out. My pest guy told me to get rid of the birdseed and it should take care of my problem. Well it did. This winter I had a little guy living in the backyard. Needless to say I think my bull mastiff finally took care of him. IMO, I would not put out any poisons if I had small children and/or pets without contacting someone with experience or knowledge first. That's why I contacted my pest guy and will again if I ever have a problem with rodents or pest.
