I am planning a trip to the coast in a few weeks and really want to try out these famous lures. I called the Houston shop and they will not have any until Late April (I was willing to drive to Houston from San Antonio).

Any advice on where to get a few (I will stock up for next year in April!)? I would ideally like a few of the originals and a few of the Devils, but I will take what I can get!
I dont mind driving ;-)

Thanks,
Curtis

I was looking for a few earlier in the week and only found those made by Storm. I just looked on ebay and there were a couple.

Call Johnny's Sport Shop in Eagle Lake. They have the original Corky's. Avoid the Corky wannabe's by Tsunami and Storm.

I've caught a ton of trout on the tsunami corkies! If they work, why avoid them? Sounds snobbish

Eh, maybe, or simply trying to help out the small businessman that started the Corky movement. No right answer there I suppose.

If you used original Corky's you would have caught 2 tons!
The Corky wannabe's work okay, I prefer the original made in Texas ones over the mass produced, made in China ones. I guess that makes me snobbish. smile

What colors seem to produce the best?

Pink and Bone/Chartruese are my favorites

I haven't had much luck on the Pink or Bones this year.. Not that it's the colors so much as me and the conditions I have been fishing.

As of last week Amber, TX Chicken, and Avacado have produced best for me. Course I threw them 80% of the time over other colors.

The days I fished were very windy and required a slow to almost stagnate retrieve.

Wooo!

Any idea why Storm doesn't make the pink ones? Copyright?

Most the records/success stories, with these suspending cork type lures, seem to be on pink.

I drove from Port Neches (near Beaumont) to Mr. Brown's house in Pasadena last week and bought 20. He didn't have any pink or tx chicken. I'll drive back when he does. It's worth the trip.
