I may get bashed but my thought is that if I want to keep 5 slots for dinner I am in my rights. But when I fish Fork with all TPWD have done with genetics,I ask myself? Could this "Under" fish be the one that has the genes to be a Record. So I always put them back. Roberts to me hasn't shown the genes or any type of weights to justify the slot. Lift it .

this horse has been beat enough, the slot is going away. I am glad for it and somethimes i am nervuous about the pressure my jewel is going to get, But that is the way it is. The benefits out way the negatives. The slot change will help every aspect around sanger and pilot point with the business end. Heck we should all get together on saturdays and sundays in joint force and drive circles around all the jet skis and ski boats maybe we can run them off. But I think the fishing will get even better. ****As long as the corp does not mess with water levels during spawn********

Also s.manner the genes are there beleive me this last year was the best i have seen in long long time for bigguns and they have the right genes. And i would like to thank the previous post about the stocking. Once TPWD takes interest again and continues stocking effors it will be incredible.

If the fishing is as good as Lewisville, then why a slot? The vast majority of the anglers catch and release anyway. Lewisville's been great for years even with all the pressure it gets, and that's with a 14 inch mininum... so there isn't any reason to keep Roberts on a slot.
In my opinion tne fishing at Ray Roberts is not as good as Lewisville , It's way way better. I looked at the last three Bass Champs results on the lake. Briefly summarized, they are: 4/19/08 1st was 5 fish for a little over 17. 15th place was five for a little over 13#. Four fish were weighed fro big fish. One 9#, two 5#+. and one 4#. 4/14/07 1st was five for 17.9#. 15th place was 3 for 7.36#. Three biggest fish were 6.2#,5.28, and 4.6. 4/18/06 1st was five for 16.4. 15th was five for 11.7. not much worth mentioning for big fish. What type of weights do you expect would come out of Roberts with the slot removed?? Why are some guys saying there would be 40# sacks? Because Ray roberts is a very good lake compared to the surrounding lakes. It's worth preserving in it's present form or some slight modification, not the 14" minimum. Don't people appreciate just plain good fisheries anymore?

i dont get it,just lift the d@mn slot everywhere.you guys cant tell me that you wouldnt like to see stringers comin out of fork that are more than 12 pounds.i mean thats a pretty weak stringer for being (and im quoting Rick Clunn on this) a "super lake".I just think that the true potential of any of these big fish lakes is being hindered by the slot.if anything make the slot more reasonable, make it 16-19 inch slot.it still holds up the farce of trying to conserve the lakes big fish, but it would allow all of those 5,6,7,8 lbers that we have all caught in tournaments and teared up as we let go as we thought"what if?"to be brought to the scales....maybe im just being selfish, but i really really really want the slot at LEAST reduced to a more reasonable length...dont yall?

The problem with Roberts is very little aquatic growth, IMO. Seemed like there were more fish before 2000 when the lake dropped 18 feet causing the hydrilla to dry up. Remember the west side of Wolfe Island? Personally I like the slot limit and don't want hordes of boats on that lake.

p.s. sorry for hijacking the thread i just think this same arguement applies to fork. I disagree, Roberts has maybe 1/10th of the traffic Fork has. Cameron would be a good source for that info. I've seen the aerial pictures during March that were posted up here years ago. It's not uncommon to not have anywhere to park on Fork. The slot on Fork (and I hate slots) is necessary IMO because of the intense pressure put on that lake. Fork is still pushing out Giant fish. People come from all over the world to fish Fork. When was the last time you saw a thread about Ray Roberts from a fisherman up North planning a trip there?

What type of weights do you expect would come out of Roberts with the slot removed?? It will take close to 30# to win any tournament held on Ray Bob, the only exceptions to that would be during the hottest or coldest water temps of the year. I could see a 35#+ sack being possible too! This lake is loaded with 5-6 lb fish.
