I have an older 50 horse Johnson that i bought used on a 16' Procraft. The problem I'm having is sometimes it runs like a top , fast as it is supposed to be , but then the next time I start it I can only get about a quarter of the speed. This happens all the time, I can make a run up the lake at full speed and fish for awhile and then on the return trip it takes me at least 3 times as long to get back, or it will run slow to the fishing area , and then run like it is supposed to on the way back. Any thoughts on this ???? THANKS FOR ANY HELP

I've been a trucker for yrs so haven't been able to fish as much as i'd like , but i'm trying to learn. My son goes with me , so that is cool,he is trying to learn also, we both want to become better fisherman.

I would start by checking the fuel lines for a floater. Take each one loose from the carb and pump the primer bulb to clear, then re-install and try. If that does`nt help, take the carbs off and clean them. Let us know. Good lUCK

phil, from another trucker get some lucas fuel stabilizer (the honey colored stuff) 10 $ qt. at wally world or oriellys, mix as recommended and run thru two tanks, this will break up and clean any junk in the carbs or fuel system. if not the cure then try rebuild of carbs. 21 yrs. dbls trpls hzmt. now just fishin.
