talked with a guy at tpwd fishery. he asks that any folks who come across a significant number of sick, dead, or malformed fish, TPWD would like to know ASAP.
Thanks, Gerald

I wonder what happened to that big hump backed bass in the tank at the Arlington Tackle Show. That thing was freaky looking.

All those fish in the tank were from a farm pond close to the convention center, Jay. They were "leased" for the show and returned to the pond afterwards. I've caught much worse looking bass than that hump-backed one....it was obviously healthy since it was the biggest one (weight-wise) in the tank.

A friend studies water quality in Texas, and he claims that there are concerns about major fish kills later this year. I'm not sure if that prediction presumes an ongoing drought, or whether it is likely to happen with or without rain, but he said that we can expect lots of dead fish on our rivers and lakes in the upcoming year.

>>>Bret<<< I was wondering what this drought might be doing to the water quality..Seems that if you remove enough water through evaporation that the salinity and other levels will surly rise. Just hope the fish can adapt. Think I'll make few calls..And continue with my nightly rain dances..

go back to your friend & try to find out more info.
maybe they can make that kind-of prediction based on the weather predictions (e.g., severe & extended drought)...?
let us know.
