it would depend if my life is truly in danger since that would be the only time i would ever bring my firearm out im not dying for anybody anywhere or not without a fight. and if that were the case then there is no debate i would rather be alive to plead my case. or make a run back to texas there is no good answer to the question except if the situation were thet grave i have a better chance of staying alive armed then not. so i guess i choose #2

I just got back from Falcon. If you mind your own business and keep your space you will not have any problems. However, I do have a question for those of you who say you do carry in Mexican waters. Should you find yourself in a situation in which you feel threatened what would you truly do?
1. Would you defend yourself with deadly force and risk spending many, many years as a guest of the federalies?
2. Would you defend yourself with deadly force and haul azz back to Texas?
3. Would you simply attempt to difuse the situation and get back to Texas (cut and run)?
There is not a good answer to this question but if you think you need to carry you should also think very hard about how you would handle the situation if it arose given you are in another country with much different laws.
So I assume that 4: Kill the Mofo, stuff the body on a big stick and hang a "Don't Mess With Texas" sign around the neck. would be considered way outta line?!?!

If you dont cause any trouble there should be no reason for someone to search you or your boat for anything. If you mind your business and have up to date registration and fishing license they would never know if you have a rocket launcher in your rod box. Unless you shoot it of coarse. Im always carrying my pee shooting .380. hollow points for that little extra spice.

Bow and Arrow all the way. They come within 20 yards of me and turn broadside, I'm gonna pull an Uncle Ted on 'em!

Hey evv59, CHL or not IT IS LEGAL to carry a gun in your car or boat. What he said. I don't have a CHL and don't ever have a gun in my truck...but you definitely can legally, recent gun law change as Micro stated. As far as in Mexico, I don't know if I'd be too cool about federalis coming into my boat whether or not there was a weapon. I think I'd turn the key and see if their boat is as fast as mine. For the people that say Zapata/Falcon/Mexican side is safe, I totally agree to this point and have never heard anything different. I've been there three weeks over the past year but with the drug trafficing problems Mexico is having you can never be sure. I don't particularly want to be the first one beheaded on that lake because I strolled into the wrong cove as Juan Pablo's loading up his coke into a boat.

Illegal Aliens in USA caught with a Pistol just get deported, seen it first hand.
American carrying a pistol in Mexico "get jail time".
Just another screwed up reason to stay away from Mexico.

Wow! It's hard for me to believe this is even a topic. Call me naive. This is my 5th year to fish in a club, and I've never even thought of the need of a gun in the boat. My 14 year old son will be my pardner this year. I agree with Lil'Louie, if I ever feel that threatened, my tournament fishing will be over. Golf is not bassfishing, but it ain't bad.
Now THAT'S what I'm talkin about!

I've never felt the need to have a gun in my boat for the purpose of protection, either. I do, however, have a CHL and carry a gun with me in my truck. The dilemma is what to do with my pistol when I park my truck at a ramp where I'm worried that I might come back to find my windows broken out and everything I own gone. In that case, the gun goes in the boat with me.

This is part of the Castle Doctrine. If you are allowed to own the gun, you can cacle or boat withrry it in your vehiout a CHL because the vehcle or boat is now considered an extension of your Castle. I love Texas!!!!!

Corps of Engineers regulations do not allow a loaded handgun on their property with or without a CHL.
Do so at your own risk. Know whether you are on a Corps lake before you carry. It is a Federal offense if you are caught.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

Just go to the flee market and buy you a deputy sherriff badge for 5 bucks and use it if you get stopped in Old Mexico.
