Getting ready for the Superbowl party at my neighbors lakehouse nextdoor when he calls me on his cellphone and tells me to look out on the point...
Wow!!! The water was boiling and a large school of whitebass or Hybrids (I guess) were knocking shade out of the water. There was several funnel clouds of birds attacking the water and pelicans beating the water with there wings and jumping from spot to spot competing with the gulls and other duck like creatures for the feast. But their was no dought about it, Fish was pushing up shade and was turning the water white in there feeding frenzy, A pretty noisy affair!
The feeding frenzy lasted about 15 min. and travled about a half a mile east toward the dam. This event was at mid-lake near Midway landing on Richland/Chambers.
I lived here on the lake for several years and have seen Whitebass and Hybrids feedings before and have chased the birds. But this event was so violant and at this time of year.
It was different for sure !!!
Could the White-bass pattern be early this year?

I wish that would happen when I'm around. I have yet experienced being at the right place at the right time.

You know it's fun to see the whitebass push shade up and feed around my boathouse and we just grab our rods and hang on, or you see them a little farther out in the lake and crank up the boat and race out there and catch a few. Here a R/C there is no shortage of Whitebass and Hybrids as I'm sure the guides will tell you.
But I'm worried this year... The lake level is over five feet low this year and my boat is high and dry in the boathouse so even though it's nice to see fish... Their is know way I can catch any of them either from the pier or from the boat.
I'm praying for rain.
