I seen this term used, but I can't find out what it means.
Tried to google it, but no luck.

Can someone take the time to explain to me what it is?

TIA

It's holding a lure completely still in the water. The technique is used a lot right now for catching sandbass and hybrids. Lots of folks are catching catfish on lures while targeting the other fish. So I guess if you drop a piece of cut shad, punch bait or dip bait down near the bottom and hold it still you would be "deadsticking" your bait.

And I thought it was just beating the surface of the water with a dead stick.

Deadsticking, as Bobby stated earlier, is basically holding the lure still. This method works well this time of year, but you need to watch your graph to see what depth the fish are holding at and place your lure just above that depth. A good way to figure the depth of your lure is to drop it to the bottom and count how many cranks it takes to get the lure to the surface. Divide the number of cranks by the depth of the water and you now have an idea of how much line your reel pulls in per crank. Example: lets say your in 40 ft of water, but the fish are holding around 20 ft. You've determined that your reel pulls in 2 ft of line per crank, so it should take 10 cranks to get your lure to 20'. I like to hold my rod parallel to the water, waist high. This way I can raise or lower the lure and still have a center point from where I started. Or, you can watch your lure on the graph and raise and lower where needed laugh
