I never said I released them back into the water cause that would be illegal. I released them into the dry New Mexico desert like the law requires.

In summary...I agree with AlbertKing... go crawl back under your evil rock!

This has nothing to do with statue of limitations, but more of an attitude shown by SOME bowfishermen and their disregard for rules and the blood sport of killing for the sake of killing. Population control is not for us to decide. If TPWD thought there was a problem with rough fish taking over then they would do something about it.
I was always taught if I was going to kill an animal I was going to eat it or use it for bait. Maybe you don't have morals like some of us, maybe you do but you sure aren't showing any.

ScottEvil, I am a fair person and feel bad at somehow striking a nerve and in realizing that bowfishing is a "blood sport of killing for the sake of killing" I will find my old bow and remove the barbs from the arrows. With that said, sorry this thread took a bad turn and will probably get locked.

Actually my brother and I were bowfishing below the dam in N.M. and had completely filled the trunk of a '77 Firebird and had begun throwing them into the brush when a game warden stopped checked our licence, checked that there weren't any gamefish in trunk and told us we were doing a good job and to keep it up because the carp eat up the eggs from the gamefish when they spawn. So think about the gamefish species when you hear these carp-lovers cry when they hear of carp being killed. And it IS ILLEGAL to return a carp back into a lake in N.M. they are considered "trash fish" not "rough fish". All other fish get heavily harvested and still have healthy populations but carp are left alone. Visit a lake in new mexico and see first hand what carp being ignored can do to a lake. If a body of water can only sustain a certain amount of wildlife, other species would gain from their removal. So I say kill em and dont forget the gar, they don't eat roe and moss, they eat baitfish.

ignorance is bliss rolleyes keep it up, you are only making the bowfishermen with morals look bad. I am not against bowfishing completely. But I am against the waste of fish that you describe and the killing of trophy size fish. Crawl back in your bubble while the rest of the world evolves, you'll be safer there

that is illegal btw to shoot a fish with an arrow then release it back to the water or dump it without using it for food or bait. Nice of you to admit it on an open forum that TPWD visits regularly. And you want to talk about ethics and morals? I made a screenshot of the page before you edit again just for my records(and others)

When you buy your license they give you "for free" a book of rules. Please read it.

Carp do not eat gamefishes eggs nor do they cloud up water. Those are the two biggest myths about carp and buffalo.
