I caught this 13lb carp last weekend while trout fishing. Sure was fun on my ultra-light Falcon with 4lb test!

yeah that is a nice buff...join the dark side in the rough fish section...feel the power (ok bad starwars referance) ...not a carp but a native buffalo a member of the sucker family, carp are a member of the minnow family of fish...must of been some fight in that current on lite tackle.

Thanks for the clarification, carper. I knew it was a buffalo, but honestly I thought that was a sub-species of carp. I didn't know carp and suckers were seperate. Learn something every day. I caught quite a few more buffalo (most small mouth, but some very big and almost black ones) the following weekend.
I figured out they all school up on some flat rocks near the damn. Probably 60 or so, but you cannot see them from the shore. I waded out in the stream, and they swam all around me. It was a blast catching them. They were actuall mouthing my micro-power worm. Not sure if they were eating it, or if I was just getting it in their way, but it was fun. I've got another question, but i'll post it in the rough fish forum.

That looks like LLELA? If it is there are tons of spots to hit up right now for trout. You can also find plenty of cats, carp/buffalo, few bass and sand bass. Good place to fish.

Yep, it is the good ole LELA... I found the place for buffs(after your trout limit, of course), is just below the dam. There is the initial spillway, then the big hole (everyone catfishes in). After that first rapid widens out, there is a little island in the middle of the 'river'. All around it are nice flat rocks that the buffs school up on to eat the moss. Can't see them from the bank, but they have been there every time I wade out (between 10-noon), thick as flies. Sure is a fun way to end the day.

The trout should be hanging all around that island. Buffalo are everywhere. From behind the island about 15 yards back I like to throw a inline spinner bait (road runner, rooster tail, etc...) and run it across the water, works really well with the bass.
From where you took the pic, if you go up 40 yards there is a big curve in the river, that place always holds a good cat or too. Coming out of that curve is a nice flat with a deepside on the end, that always seems to hold fish too.
Haven't been in a while, just talking about it makes me want to head out there again.
