Hello,
My name is Joe, and (obviously) this is my first time on TFF. I was fishing the Lewisville tailrace for trout this morning and met the nicest fly fisherman I've ever encountered. He was absolutely tearing up the trout, and I was wading not to far away. He invited me over after he had his limit, talked to me for a bit, and even let me take a crack at his fly rod for a bit. Great fisherman, nice guy, and he taught me alot. Said he was a member of this board, so I thought I would come say hi, and thanks for the help this morning.

We ended up catching several more trout, and had a great lunch. But we never could get that heron to leave us alone. A giant blue heron tried to take a trout right off of this fly-fisherman's line! Then, after he left, I had my stringer floating about 4 feet away from me (tied to my waders), I heard some splashing, and turned aroud to see the dang bird stabbing at my fish on the stringer!!! Bravest bird ive ever seen.

Anyways, sorry for the long first post. Just wanted to say thanks, and I look forward to being apart of the boards, and hopefully meeting some more TFF members out on the water!

welcome to the TFF. There are some great guys on here. You should keep your eyes open for the many "gatherings" posted throughout the year. There's friendly tournaments, fish fries, BBQ's, etc. Then you can put faces with the names, and they are always a blast!!!!!!

Kudo's go out. Fly-fishing for trout is one of my favorite ways to relax and fish.

welcome welcome fish Great site, beware of those herons. There are some horror stories of them poking eyes out with the sharp beaks, dont take them lightly.

Enjoy!!

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
