Without the spots and with the tooth there are 2 other trout that are in our bays and surf. One indeed is a sand trout, the other is a silver seatrout. Although generally found in deeper water and a little smaller that the sand trout. the silver seatrout are very similar in shape, color and size and are often mistaken for a sand seatrout.

The Sept 08 edition of Texas Saltwater Fishing magazine had a very good article with pictures about both of these lesser respected seatrout species.

Hope to wet a hook this weekend!!

There's no place I'd rather be than the Matagorda (Tx) Gulf Beach, surf fishing!

What would you call this redfish, besides ugly? Suppose the missing gill plate is a war wound. Doubt it's congenital. Hope I never catch one.

that would be a sand trout. i believe they're considered trash fish, for some odd reason. But they taste great and i believe there is no limit on them, size or number.

White trout taste just as good as specks. The meat does not hold up well if you don't ice them down immediately. Besides that, they taste exactly the same.
