I used to fish upper Livingston area and a year like this, with little fresh water coming in from upstream usually meant a slower run. If we get a heavy run-off rain soon, that would trigger the fish to leave the lake and head up.
Actually, it was low flow years that I loved the most, as the fish seemed to be even more stacked up in the creeks closest to the upper end of the lake :-) But that was still about a month away from now when they made it up that far.

Hello there. I'm new to this forum. Ran across your Trinity River Post and had to jump in. I've fished the Trinity Run since the mid-80's. The fast action there pretty much ruined me for any other type of fishing...haha. I've been out a couple of times this season. About 2 weeks ago my wife and I limited out trolling rattletraps in the Riverside Area. This past wednesday I went north to Midway....mistake. Only got 8 in a full day's fishing (thankfully they were some very heavy river sows). I'm hearing some good reports from the Lock and Dam. So I thought Midway would be great but I guess they are not really staging in that part of the river just moving through to the lock upstream.

Every year I go to Bedias Creek for those who don't where that is I can give directions to the boat launch there. If you haven't been there before you'd have a hard time finding it. Anyways, I have been goin to Bedias Creek since I was about 6 or 7 and I am now 31 and I would have to say that it truelly is a spoiling experience. If you like really fast paced action and doubles on a pair of Mr. Twisters rigged up tandem then this is the place to be. I would have to warn you though that is a tough creek to navigate at times with the stumps and what not. But well worth it when you and a couple buddies have your entire limit in a mere couple of hours. Like I said if anyone needs info to the private boat ramp 5$ or the public one which I don't recommend just let me know. I also have a phone number to the owner of the boat launch and you can call him and get fishing reports whenever you wish. He is a very nice guy ( of course I might be biased considering he is my grandfather) but he will help you in any way he can.
PS. Bedias Creek is between Midway and Huntsville, the launch is directly on the creek about an 1/8th mile from the mouth. The dirt road to get to the launch is off of FM 247.

My first year of experiencing the Trinity run....and I promise it will not be my last, Lord willing and the creeks don't rise.
Like River Rover, I fished the Riverside area. I'm told that the run is only about average thus far this year...but I'm here to say average definitely spoils me.
I'm hooked, converted, and kicking myself for not doing this sooner in my life.
Going to check out Sabine river tomorrow to compare to Trinity run.

Hey RNW. Have they been doing any good lately??? I doubt they fish are in there.....we need rain bad. I was laughing to myself about the last trip I made over there two years ago. We killed them. Big ones too. I also got to meet your grandfather's brother. He had a huge travel mug of something that smeeled like it would fuel a jet. Neither him or Pete have ever met a stranger! Great folks.

Just got off the phone with ol grandpa (Pete) and he told me they are startin to move in thick now. Said over the weekend had about 20+ boats launch and most caught limits and those that didn't caught plenty. Said today with the front movin through slowed things down a bit, had 6 boats launch and they all caught fish just not the numbers like the previous 2 days. He also told me that a few of ya'll have been callin and mentioning this post, said he was tickled about it, he ain't much on the up and up about this internet thing but he sure get's a kick out of it when someone mentions this post to him.
As of now the water ain't movin, clear (for the river anyways) greenish. Tackle: silver and black back and silver with blue back 1/4 oz rattletraps. Also Mr. Twister 3 inch tails white and yellow. Also many have been catchin LMB while trollin for whites, and some with some decent size to em ie 3-5 lbs.

Redneckwonder, I was just wondering if your grandpa would let me fish from the bank if I payed him the same as if I was launching a boat? Also wanted to know what the name of the dirt road is that your Grandpa lives down. I have been fishing the Lock and Dam on HWY 7 here lately but don't really care for the drive(I live in Huntsville). Like you said the whitebass are thick in the river right now. Me and my buddy caught over 70 at the lock and dam last wed. and kept our two man limit. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.
