You can always call the fishing report number to get a general idea of what's being caught and on what....210-302-3640

That hotline has had the same report for over a year. They have yet to update it. Both lakes have been slow unless your a catt fisherman. You can catch a few reds and stripers but mainly small cats.
my advice to you is to catch some good sized shad and than find some fish on your fish finder than drift over them. I have found fish on my finder on both sides of the wall jetty.

Been to Calaveras about 5 times now since fall with several fishin buddies... The fish will not bite ANY thing for us... I am givin up on Cally, bout time to hit Choke and Amistad anyway! So much for having a lake 12 minutes away!

Went out yesterday to calaveras, fishing for bass and hooked into what looked to be a 4-5 lbs bass, but broke me off in the reed beds!! Cranked the dam with no luck, fished some drop offs and that lil creek around from the discharge but nothing there either!

Sure do miss fishing those reed beds at both these lakes; it was like hand to hand combat.
Every lake I go to if see some reeds I think game on; however, rarely is it as good as it was there. Many days our best 5 would top 15-20 pounds when they are in there...

Dont think they are spawning yet, water temp was only 61-63 on main lake and 66 around the dishcarge or at least on the east arm of the lake..... I found warmer water on lake dunlap them out at cally that was weird, considering cally is power plant lake!!!!

you can almost always never go wrong at cally, flipping a blk/blue jig in the reeds!- Braunig on the other hands is just tough.
