Was looking on Ebay for 200 hp Merc.
Saw specs for a motor with 25 inch shaft.
Got to thinking, I don't even know if my Merc has 20" or 25".
What is the normal shaft length in a Merc 200 that would be mounted on the back of a BassCat PII?

Most Bass boats are 20" Transoms. Offshore and bay boats are the ones that use 25 and 30" transoms. There are some mixed in with 20"ers but not many. A few Bass boats use 25" but I don't know of many.

You don't ever want to stick a 25" motor on a bass boat, you simply can't ever make it run right.
Ask me how I know this....

Why not just put the power-head on yours. If you find a 25in motor cheap enough, as the power-heads are the same.

Why wouldn't a 25 work? Shouldn't it in theory run the exact same assuming they are both set say 3" below pad? You're just going to have a motor towering over the back or your boat.

The prob would be getting the 25" motor 5 inchs higher than the 20". There is not five inchs adjustment unless u have a jackplate. And then the 20" motor better be as low as it can go.
