What do you do when your favorite day before fishing shad hole is full of crappies. 12 Shad over 40 crappies....I guess I should have been fishing instead of netting bait.

When my shad hole is filled with crappie(especially big ones) I tell everyone on this forum the exact cordinates to it.
A childs worst fear isn't finding out that santa isn't real, yet instead finding out that Chuck Norris is.

Catfish will eat crappie too, won't they?
Oh, right, the gamefish status thing ...

I can remember a time this past summer fishing on Lewisville I was catching bait before the sun comes up in Tower Bay. Seen a spot where the dock light shinned on the water. Little splashes from all the shad that were stacked up under that light. I was like, Oh ya - one throw and I'll have more than enough. Tossed out that big 8 ft net and let it sink. Thump, thump, thump on the way down. Mother load! Pulled it up and not one shad. FULL of crappie It took a few minutes getting everyone of those boogers back in the water. Just move. They'll be close.

If only castnet were a legal way to catch fish..... Kirby in Abilene is slap full of 1" shad, pelicans by the dozens(maybe hundred or so) and crappies(over ten is the standard size). A few bass one made 10 lbs and was in the newspaper a couple months ago.
Moving didnt work just kept catching them crappies.

sounds like we need to come help you thin down the crappie population. Might have to make a trip. Used to fish kirby a lot when I lived there. Saugeye are cool.
