Can you tell me you exact position when you were issued the ticket in terms of Latitude, and Longitude, as well as the date, and exact time at which the ticket was issued.

I can run a very accurate calculation for Sunsets.

TFP

Drat! I just noticed that you made shore at 5:45pm. I was thinking that the GW claimed that you made shore at 5:22pm. I thought that he was being anal about things, but not so.

On that date, whatever it was, you'd have to have the sunset take place 23 minutes latter than when it did at Caddo. That would put you over by Canton, Texas. So there's no way that you'll be able to argue that there is some doubt as to sunset that day having occurred at the time you recived the ticket.

I would get a VERY accurate time of sunset....such as what is being offered by TFP

ccabal;
You learned a couple of things.
First thing is that when "The Man" wants to ticket you, he will and there is nothing you can do about it. Believe me, he has his backside covered.
Second thing is to never ever let an accident happen. You should have avoided the underwater [censored] that fouled your TM. lol!
Work a few hours overtime and forget it.
The main advantage is "Fishing"
An added advantage is "Catching"

Pee on it, then pay it.

I grew up on and around Caddo. The Game Wardens are HARD CORE, so if you go, you need to have it together: fishing License, Life vest, lights, horn, throw cushion, fire extingisher, etc.. They check a lot of people on that lake ( and river ) and rarely have I seen them take mercy on anyone. It's about the same for hunting too. There are a ton of road hunters on Hwy 43 and they patrol that area between state park and Smithland Grocery pretty regular.

We used to have a deer camp on Carter's Lake and the GWs would come into our camp to eat/hang out. 1 time one of our members shot a deer and didn't tag it correctly... After dinner, the GW went over, noticed the deer and then wrote the guy a ticket.

Also, they have the fake full bodied remote control deer that they plant along the edge of 43 and sit back and watch people shoot it and then write tickets..

I say all this to let you know.. they are serious.

I have been checked both on Caddo and Lake Gilmer many times. Always be courteous and honest with them as they can always find something to ticket you for!

There is an easy way not to get a ticket. Be legal and have all your stuff in order. They are there for a reason.

I know it sounds silly the guy got a ticket for not having a light up a few minutes after the official sunset time, but had he been coming around a boat lane at dusk, and another boat hit him, then it would be a completely different story.

Here is a pretty good way not to get a ticket in Texas by a law officer.

Say this, and this only

"Me No Speak Glish"

They know it's a waste of their time writing a ticket

Plead not guilty and hope the warden has something better to do on court day. Maybe the judge will feel sorry for you since you have a decent excuse.

Sorry about the ticket, but thanks for the reminder. I run in all to often after the sun has set but before it is dark to load up.. I better get those lights on more often or I may get that ticket next.
