He SLEPT about the entire time!!! LOL!!! Here is Tanner at 12 weeks at Calaveras Lake!!   Here he is today at 13weeks, 28.8lbs!!

better enjoy it while he's still a little one. my yellow lab used to just lay there and sleep too until he got a little older. now every cast I take, he's in the water chasing it. and at 9 months and 80 lbs, its not so easy to get him back into the boat.
good looking puppy.. is it your first lab?

Here's a way to work thru that.
Put the leash on, tell the dog to lay down and stay. Then step on the leash while casting. By stepping on it where there is no slack the dog can't stand up. They'll learn quick.

My Neighbors labs used to visit us on the dock, Might as
well put up the fishing gear when they showed up.
