Ok, the wife is giving me a trip for my birthday.
I'm wanting to go fishing on the coast.
It can be any time around April.
It'll be me and one or two of my buddies.
I would like to go somewhere where I can get in with a charter,
or if the bank fishing would be better let me know.

Let me hear your ideas as to when, where, what and who.

Fishermans wharf seems to be pretty good from what I hear; I have not used them personally however.

If you want to bank or pier fish I would suggest the Copano Bay pier, it lighted and long enough that you are not crowded. I have caught trout and blackdrum there quite often. I have not been in a while as I bought a boat.

maybe you can talk your buddies into pitching in a little cash with yours and hire a guide, that would be your best chance of catching something good.

Baffin Bay. Get a guide for two days. There are some great ones down there. Any Offshore trip is so weather related that it might be cancelled. For Inshore weather still is important but it typically won't kill the trip.

If your going with a couple of buddies why not hit up matagorda, or pins camp out on the beach and do some surf fishing... Its usualy pretty good fishing from the surf there, and miles of beach to drive and camp on. Thats my fav. thing to do down there anyways.

You can never go wrong around the Port Aransas areas. There is every type of fishing you can imagine and Im sure the party boats will be geared up and ready to go when you get here.Plenty of places to shore fish and camp, and the Port A jetties are always an excellent option to any trip down here.Good luck.

If you want to go on a killer Trout and Redfish trip go with Robert Zapata out of Corpus. He is hard to find info. on P.M. me if interested. He is a Shimano Pro. I have caught a 29-30 inch Trout every trip with him. Last March limited out in 2 hours both mornings on artificials. Spent 5 hrs. playing with Big Reds both days.
