Looks like I may drive up in a couple hours to Texoma through Oklahoma ... (377 to 70 by way of 32). Anything weird I need to know about OK roads & driving? Toll roads, unusual laws, etc?

Tacky jokes welcome laugh

Beware!!! About 30 min after you break the boarder into Oklahoma, you will sudenly experience an extreme feeling of bordem from lack of seinary and excitement. There is nothing in Oklahoma. Its like driving through the King Ranch in south Texas. Oh and also, if you drink beer, take some from Texas with you. Their beer is a little watered down.

Sorry, wasn't very precise - going to fish the north end of the lake. Planning to put in at the state park there off of 70 in OK.

Comparable to King Ranch, huh? I actually enjoy that drive, as it's so peaceful.

ya, 3.2%, that's why them okie's think they can drink a lot! banana cheers
But I disagree w/ the SCENERY observation, there's plenty
of nice scenery in Ok. Tenkiller & Broken Bow lake come to mind.

Um, why are you putting in on the OK. side, anyway?

Well, the reports on here suggest to fish north of the 70 bridge. I'd rather tow the boat over there at 17mpg than run it at 3mpg. Also nice to see new places & do new things.

Although if the vet calls back with not-so-good news about my cat, then I may not be fishing at all today.

Tenkiller is georgeous. Had the opportunity to scuba dive there. Very clear.

Nevermind about Texoma. Sick kitty needs me to be in town when the vet says he's ready ... or to make decisions that I don't want to make.

Sorry to hear about the cat, Zeek. Those "decisions" can be pretty rough. Good luck.

Zeek, you got my vote as that is what I plan on doing the next time I head up there and want to fish north. It isnt more than 20 miles extra past the 377 bridge to put in at the hwy 70 bridge or Alberta Creek.

eeks flehanWhat are you pulling your boat with? If I'm lucky with the wind behind me I may get 12mpg when pulling my boat bang. 07 Ford F150 4x4 w/towing pkg @ 65-75mph.

I wish you well with your cat thumb. We had to make that decision a few months back with our dog and it is pretty tough cry.

Driving through Oklahoma - Take your puke bag. You'll need it after you see the place...... smile

On a serious note - for real the place is ugly.

I have always had a good time in the brickyards of downtown though. Parking stinks big time! But still manage to have a good time.

I don't think East OK is that bad. More green and more water.

Don't forget your passport. Gotta have it when you leave the good ole U.S. and enter a "third world country".

From what I've seen, it isn't a matter of WHAT you tow your boat with as the speed you pull it, as the wind resistance increases drastically after 60mph. My normal towing speed is only 50-60mph, sometimes I'll do 65 to get through highway traffic. My tow vehicle is a '00 Ford Explorer 4.0L V6 with towing package. My loaded trailer is about 3,400 pounds (about 70% of max rated tow load).

The cat will be fine without surgery, but he's probably not going to be around for next Christmas ... I suppose the way to look at this is that he & his brother have had nine years together that they wouldn't have gotten at the Denton pound.
